antara's background: does it matter?

antara always makes it a point to tell audience that she is from a remote place and everything is new to her. mini too keeps asking her as if antara is some kind of alien.

now we all know that she is from a remote place and good that she could reach this platform but they should really stop promoting one contestant like this. audience is just getting to know these singers and the way they are shown on TV affects votes. dilpreet was a victim of non-promotion by II producers.

it happened in II-1 too. vishal was a good singer but he was not promoted and got out soon whereas ravinder ravi got in on sympathy votes because everyday they showed him painting and his parents on charpai with cows around.

at this platform there should be no bias on the basis of region, religion or economic background. audience should be able to vote on the basis of how these singers perform that particular day not from their background.

I think that is absolutely true in a way 😕 .They don't need to keep reminding us she is frm a village & all dat 😡 .She is a good singer & shud be gettin votes on d basis of her singing & performance & not her background 😳 .I am not sure if she gets sympathy votes bcoz she actually does sing well.Being frm a village does not mean oh shez frm a village & we shud give her votes and make her d next II😕.That completely makes no sense at all.Pple shud be more attentive to d presentation than d background of a person. Antara is a nice singer & i hope she becomes d next II but not on d basis of her background.Dats not fair to d other contestants.

I think Mini just wants to ask her how it feels, after all she is a villager........but mind u she looks better than all the girls.

the audience is not stupid, if u noticed this im shure other ppl did too

well, ya the audience isnt stuipis its just hella emotional.. i mean i agree antara is a gr8 singer.. and some of the ppl DO vote for her coz she sings well.. but more than 50% of her votes her coz of sympathy.. and well.. its just plain show biz.. the sony thing 😛

tone down a bit. i didn't comment on her looks.

many who vote won't judge like you and me. it really matters whose face is shown on TV most time.

i think show producers shouldn't be biased. does it really matter whether you are from town or village? NO. singing and performance matters.

Antara has a new image now. If the channel felt they should promote her background in the beginning, that's cool. All regional biases should be thrown out the window at this point. Everyone is aware of where she is from and what she did to get to this stage. There's no point in repeating the same fact over and over again. Antara is talented...she has all the makings of a future diva. Let her talent speak for itself now. Regional issues dominated SRGMP Challenge '05. Don't want the same thing to happen in II2, let talent speak for itself at this stage in the competition. Dilpreet was one of my favs. Had she been promoted more, she would have made it to the Galas.

I agree with you bluepink. When age doesn't matter, place also shouldn't matter once they reach a platform like this. I strongly feel she's being promoted properly by the producers of II.

Antara already told before that she wanna show to all a village gal can reach to to thsi platform if she got talent...to make into TO 28 is not that much easy if u dont ahve talent...

Its true that SONY promoted that but if tehy do that we shoudl encourage that....Dont u guys thing only metro city or rich people come to this show...If so whts teh use? their relatives & freinds gonan spend mroe money in the voting too...In taht way soem otehr welld eserving candidate fail too...

BTW in the end talent is only matters & dont compare Antara with RAVINDER RAVI since tehy showed village clips...They showed right thing rt?

also gala is just started...Mini trying to promote again & Antara is so excited but still simple...SHe is telling thsi to get soem confident to teh gals who live in villages & feel tehy cant go & participate in these shows & get fame....

They shoudl eb encouraged ratehr encoraging rich & not that much versatile singers like NEHA ,JOLLY & all....

we need a versatile singer with good personality ...& not one who can be good in oen type of singign only...

Also audience interaction also needed..SAGAR lacked that in first gala round comapred to otehrs..he was little nervous & so I wont blaem anybody who hasnt voted for him....

Pls try to encourage people from villages too...Antara seeing these fame & celebrity sattus first time & she will eb escited & its obvious & we cant understand that easily hw tehy feel?
