I think they should make a rule where a person who has already sung in a music album or movie are not allowed to participate in II. If they have an album, it means that they are already established singers and II should be looking for some unknown talent in the general public. I wouldn't disqualify students of known singers though as far as they have not sung in an album or movie.
Maybe they should also disqualify immediate relatives of known singers or actors. They already have a foothold in the industry and do not need the II platform, they can leave that spot to some unknown upcoming talent. That would have disqualified Neha Kakkar!
Also, they should disqualify people who participated in other TV shows like SRGMP or FG. Now, that would disqualify Ameya and Ravi Tripathi. They already got a chance right?
Just my thoughts. Any comments?
Ameya, Ravi and Neha fans - don't beat me up - no offense intended.

Ravi Tripathi sang the song 'Tumse Milke" which I believe is originally sung by his mentor Suresh Wadkar. He must have come fully prepared but I still was very disappointed with his performace.

disaster strikes indian idol 2 in the first voting round itself!!! it's very VERY sad to know Kshitij was voted out! He was wayyy better than Ravi! So what if Ravi Tripathi is Suresh Wadkar's student? So what if he teaches singing? When the time comes to perform.... he is bad. Yup... BAD is the word. I really feel sorry for Kshitij. He has much more potential and is definitely more mature!

and yeah jaysp... I agree with your funda of not allowing already established singers to participate!

hope the future rounds are better!

rubbish..

people dont vote of the basis of singing only.. we all know tht.. thts why some of the contestants tht we think shoudn't be in may get selected and one of them may even end up bcoming indian idol.

its got nothing 2 do with their "connections"

I dont contest the choice of singers by the public. All I am trying to say is that its a tad bit unfair that people with connections get to audition before the celebrity judges and of course if they are good, they get selected.....at the cost of (possibly) more talented people who were useful only when showing footage of long lines outside the audition venues.

Ravi was aweful to say the very least. Kshitij was miles ahead of him. I could have understood if he performed well but his performance, charisma & vocals were below average.

Ravis entry to the finals is a bit disappointing. But being a fan of karunya i'm glad public voted him into finals.
