Hi Friends, We are closing on to the finale of Indian Idol 5 soon. Lets Analyze the performances of sreeram from the first round.
Song Guzarish : This song's male version is sung by Sonu nigam and Javed ali together. It looks easy on the ears, but its a very difficult song. As Salim sums up, it was really a fantastic performance by him!!
Song Tu meri shab : This song was superbly sung by KK. And i feel its a very difficult song as it challenges the limits of a singer. I dont need to mention how sreeram sung it, u all know it and the judges ovation says it all!!
Tu hi Haqeeqat : This song was sung by Javed Ali, Irfan Ashraf, Shadab. It is one of the melodious compositions ever. The song is so beautiful that you can listen it over and over again. Sreeram attempted this song and he sang it better than the original and many will agree this fact. For me it was one of his best performances ever. His voice is so sweet like a candy!!
I love you : This song was sung by the legendary Kishore Da. It's a very difficult song again as one needs to give pause to each and every word. I feel that, sreeram's voice resembles close to Kishore Kumar. And he really sang it beautifully.
Kawa Kawa : This song was sung by Sukhwinder singh, and he really is a great singer. And not many can attempt his songs. We have seen in many reality shows that some contestants tried to attempt this song, and some have sung really well. The challenge for sreeram here is, he is from southern part of the country where people conversing in punjabi is a rare sight. And its a big challenge for him to attempt this song. Sreeram did full justice and the way he sang those breathless parts in the end were outstanding. I never felt that the song was sung by a person unfamiliar with punjabi langauge.It was that good!
Lagi Aaj Sawan : This song was sung by Suresh Wadkar. He is a verygood singer and a great teacher. Its a sad song and the emotions have to be right to make it a good rendering. And sreeram did it so well. These type of songs are really difficult to emote!
Breathless : This song was sung by the legendary shankar mahadevan. This song is like patent of shankar. In the history of any Indian reality show till date, no one has attempted to sing this song. Even accomplished singers cannot match this feat!! A singer requires a hell lot of courage and great control of breath to perform in front of shankar!!. This is the toughest song, and if any one fails, he will make a mockery of himself in front of everyone! And sreeram did surprise everyone with his performance. And the audiences, judges were spellbound and were in a state of shock!! And again to perform with shankar 3 folds faster was a benchmark. And shankar himself was amused when he looked sreeram in between. And the other contestants faces say it all!!
Aaja Aaja : This song was sung by the legendary singers Ashaji and Rafi saab. I should admit, Rakesh was fantastic that day. But what amused me the fact was, When sreeram performed, each and every judge was giving their comments, Ashaji didn't start about sreeram at all. She started talking about herself. According to her, this was one of the toughest songs and she was also scared to attempt the song. She was given boost by lataji and did it beautifully later. I think by Ashaji's lenghty story, one can imagine the toughness of the song and i think sreeram deserved a lot more more praises from Ashaji!!
Kwaja mere Kwaja : We all unanimously agree that AR Rahman is the best thing that has happened to our music Industry. He is taking India's name to a global stage. And i feel rahman's songs are like a addiction. And talking about rahman's own songs(his voice), we cannot think of another voice at all. His voice is so unique and the magic he creates is amazing! This song is Rahman's masterpiece and needless to say it came straight from his heart. And sreeram sung it so beautifully, for the first time i felt, his voice was beautiful like Rahman's. And sanju's comment says it all!!
Dilbar Mere : This song was sung by Kishore Da. Its one of the best romantic tracks and u have to sing with a good throw and right emotion. As i said before, Sreeram's voice suits really well for Kishore Kumar and he performed it beautifully. The bit song Naam gum was also very good!!
O re piya : This was sung by great singer Rahat Fateh ali Khan. Its one of the toughest compositions as agreed by Salim & sulaiman. The great thing about sreeram is, he always wants to perform the tough part of the song and challenge himself. The sargam and the high notes comes in the second part of the song, but sreeram attempted it and did a great job. Agreed it wasn't his best, but still he scores for his courage and his good rendition!
Zindagi Ek Safar : Sung by Kishore da, this song is famous for its yodeling which is kishore da's signature. Its very difficult to attempt this song for its yodeling. And as Rajkumar hirani said, he was as good as Kishore Da. Sunidhi said his yodeling was flawless and fantastic! Aamir was so impressed. Nevertheless one more amazing performance by sreeram!!
Apni to Aisi : Sung by Kishore Da, this song is a classic. As salim puts it, Sreerams' voice is golden, its as good as the original!!
Friends, Sreeram is Mr consistent, he gave amazing performances right from the first round and continues to do so. The best part about him is he challenges his limits, and takes the praises and suggestions from judges and contestants alike and works hard each and every time!! If we have to single out Indian Idol 5 in one word after some years the name would be... you guessed it right "sreeram"
And for Rakesh, i loved some of his performances and they were damn good. He is the second best after sreeram. And he is improving alot and will be a very good singer!
But if we have to choose Indian Idol 5, we all can close our eyes and think of all those wonderful performances by sreeram and he deserves the Indian Idol 5 tag!!
