Does this mean a DOUBLE elimination???

I did a bit of searching online and found this interesting wikipedia article pertaining to IDOL's rules for US (and some other countries)...

"Another change in the Idol format, which was revealed on March 11, 2009, is that the judges are eligible to exercise a veto power on one eliminated contestant at any given point of the competition and spare them from elimination for that particular week. This can only be invoked up until the Final 5. The following week two contestants will be eliminated if the save is usedThe save can only be used once and it must be unanimous. because nobody is eliminated on the week that the save is used. "

I am not sure if Indian Idol plans to follow this exact format, but some factors point in that direction:

  1. Veto was used by top 5.
  2. The veto was unanimous (a requirement) and Anu Malik was harping on this point during the show.
  3. If this rule is being followed, the judges had this final chance to use the power and could not save it for later....so it is no use ranting that the veto could have been saved for later...
Now, the million dollar (rupee) question is.... do we see a Double elimination happening in the next couple of weeks....possibly next week itself?

Seems very probable since Idol has to finish on a particular date....or the finale would have an extra contestant....

This is just a heads up guys....again I am not sure but if it is a coincidence, it has to be one heck of a coincidence... 😲

Thing is we are talking about II so there were no rules written anywhere for II.
Veto was announced 5 weeks ago and not once since then and all of a sudden Out of the blue Hussain reminds the judges again it all seems scripted 😡 And if we calculate it is coming to the right weeks as this time its final 3 not final 2. So 1 gets eliminated on 27th then on 3rd and 10th respectively then we will be left with final 3 for Aug 15th finale.
Hope this cleared U'r doubts😊

I don't have any doubts.... am only quoting something I have found and am speculating, just like you are....and I have mentioned that in my post as well... and yes, it all seems scripted.... 😊

That's my question as well! As things happened on American Idol, a double elimination occurred the following week after the veto was used to save a contestant. But at this extreme desire for higher TRPs and the need to stretch out the competition longer, I doubt that will happen on Indian Idol.

Also, I was under the impression that the veto power could not be used once the competition had its Top Five. Since that happened last week, I am guessing they are not following that rule, and hence will fail to follow the double elimination rule as well.

Exactly what I had in mind! Agreed.
