As the title says, who do you feel has been the best and worst mentor so far?

The List of Mentors This Season:
1. Pritam
2. Asha Bhosle
3. Pyarelal from Lakshmikant-Pyarelal
4. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Leme know if I left anyone out 😊

I felt Asha Bhosle was the best mentor because she was shown teaching each contestant on what to improve upon and what sorta attitude to capture according to the song, which seemed to be much more than what other mentors seemed to do
And the not so good I felt were SEL or Pyarelal, they might have given advice but none of it was shown
SEL were seen mostly praising the singers, that's it

I felt Asha Bhonsle was best so far as she was actually giving inputs to each singer. I liked also she did not scold Tia when she saw her nervous. Alsos he was going into the technical poitns of singing.
Worst: Hmmm, none, ehsaan and Loy were pretty quiet

Best constant mentor for the contestants, for me, is Sunidhi Chauhan. She is always there to exemplify, explain and demonstrate. I really feel that the Indian Idol 5 contestants are really really lucky to have such a co-operative judge with them.

As far as the other mentors are concerned, well I think all of them did a good job. I don't think that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy can be seriously called as mentors as they came on the results show for their music promotion. Never-the-less, all the mentors who came were really good.

But Asha ji, the musical legend herself, was the best I think. Being a singer and part of those old songs, she knew what feel and surr the songs required and she did a pretty well job with all of them.

I won't say worst, but Pritam was the weakest mentor out of all. I can say this just on the basis of the less amount of overall good performances seen when he came to mentor. So, I think he could have done a better job. But maybe the contestants can also make mistakes as well.

I have to say this, I love those episodes where they call special mentors. It is good for the contestants training and it also helps us audience as well, to learn more about music and singing. Thanks for the fantastic topic Bahar.

^OH! I meant guest mentors but either way I 100% agree about the sunidhi comment, I've always mantained that she was more of a mentor than a judge on idol, which is exactly what the contestants needed!
And if compared to the guest mentors, then definitely sunidhi wins in that department!
And thank you 😃

If we talk about only the guest mentors then Asha ji was best.

I didn't like Pyarelal ji. He hardly pointed out anything.

I totally agree. Asha ji has always been a great mentor in all reality shows. She points out little things that other judges overlook, and she does it kindly.

Pyarelal ji, and other elder mentors, I think are sometimes hesitant to give honesty to these contestants. So, they end up highly praising all of them without giving them any honest opinion or suggestions. They think they are being nice or doing the right thing, but in some ways, they are not helping, or even hurting the contestants.

I like the way Salim and Sunidhi point out flaws- with kindness and encouragement, but also with honesty. This is the very thing that judges in the past - like Udit Narayan, Kailash Kher, etc- failed to do when they were on Idol.
