I just saw the 5 minute promo and realised that the contestants sang more of Anu's contemporaries' songs.

They sang Nadeem-Shravan, Anand-Milind and Viju Shah...hell SMP sang Pritam's song which isn't even the 90s 🤣 But of course no rule applies to her now aint it 😆

So what was the logic to call Anu and not the people who have made those songs? I am sure they are all available and were the actual heart of 90s music.

I don't know why are they calling it 90's special. It's more like Anu Malik - Udit Narayan & Sameer special.

With less of Anu's songs and more of Sameer-Udit songs. Where's the logic there? The 90s wasn't Anu's prime. Sameerji is the only one who held the monopoly in his field. Anu was always in the shadow of Nadeem-Shravan and Anand-Milind while Udit...lets not talk about the 90s singers, if it weren't for the 2 MDs I listed he wouldn't be the tar he is.

Some of the films he has composed music for are:- Border, Ishq, Main Kheladi Tu Anari, Baazigar, Judwa, Main Hoon Na, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Asoka, Biwi No.1, Fiza, Jaanam Samja Karo, Chori Chori Chupke, Refugee, soldier, Chaahat, Mard, Ajnabee, Murder, No Entry, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, and so on.

He has given lots of hit songs in 90's so his songs could have been sung.

Are the songs performed sung by uditji and sameerji?

These two may have been the original guests

Anu Malik has composed a song a Friday release Sandeep n pinky faraar. Perhaps he was added on to promote the song n movie?
but still it doesn’t answer why call it 90s

Here in UK, so far the only promo I have seen was last night of SMP which was so quick. To be honest, I couldn't make out what she was singing, Shilpa on the ladder, and 2 judges over excited.

Here Indial Idol still at 8 pm followed by Super Dancer at 9.30pm. Would have preferred same time format as India.

Anu Malik gave lot of good music in 90s. He may not have been the best of all.. But that was definitely his most successful period.

Akele hum akele tum was his n Udit's best combo

Found this tweet with statistics of composers and their total number of songs in the decades.

https://twitter.com/taparam/status/1371685153735512064

Anu gave the second highest number of songs in the entire 90s decade...although imo his were more misses than hits and he did memorable albums post Border.

The Top 5 composers of 90s are:

Anand-Milind : a whooping 1055 songs! 😲 Plus 88 if u add 1990 to the list, bringing the total to 1163...damn! (although not focussing on the 1990 number to keep a fair comparison)

Anu Mallik : 732 songs

Bappi Lahiri : 570 songs...phew even the Disco King did huge volume of work!

Nadeem-Shravan : 534 songs

Laxmikant-Pyarelal : 435 songs...my god they made their mark in the 90s too.

The only ones left to call from this list are Anand-Milind and Shravan Rathod.
