The Curry-ous Readers 🍛 Book Talk Reading Challenge September 2025
The September 21 episode confirmed that the flashback of the bleeding couple isn't a memory of either Imlie^3 or Gattu. It is the truth unknown to them.
Bhaiyā and Kairi were happily driving along to surprise the Chaudhary family with a baby bump after nine months of marriage. Annapurna had shut the door in their faces when they showed up after eloping.
So, the suicide notes are fake. Since Gattu has read at least two notes without finding it odd, maybe he wrote them to himself. Dissociative identity, parasomnia, sugar drowsiness, or whatever the cause may have been, Gattu may have arrived at Bhaiyā's accident scene and promptly written the first suicide note to himself, which he received at the cremation. Years later, Gattu had another episode, relived the traumatic experience, and wrote the new suicide note.
Pallo Māmī is evil, so is she lying about the rich family taking only their son to the hospital and leaving Kairi to die? What could be her motive? Or, was she misled by someone from the Chaudhary family actually dumping Kairi while taking Bhaiyā to the hospital or morgue or wherever?
Gattu believes that he could find Kairi alive somewhere. Presumably, the rest of the Chaudhary family also honestly believes that only Bhaiyā died, except whoever got rid of Kairi.

The whole set up of Agastya crying & getting all emotional for his Bhai’s loss looks overrated. His hate & bitterness makes no sense. Irony is this guy is educated in London. Village belly Imlie sounds more matured & sensible than delusional Agastya. Her reasonings & resolution not to trust her life with a rich guy makes more sense than Agastya’s hate for poor. Her compulsions & necessities may force her to take wrong steps, but her heart is in the right place. Can’t say the same thing for Agastya

Moreover it’s does look Kairi & Baiyah were murdered. It doesn’t look like an accident to me.
The truck was hugging the left side of the road as seen by Bhaiyā, completely outside where oncoming traffic was supposed to be. Bhaiyā had to swerve right, not left, trying to avoid the head-on collision. It looks like the truck driver was trying to cause the collision for sure.
Did Annapurna drive the truck herself, I wonder?
Gattu: "Jugs, this is a hospital. Here, there's no one rich or poor, just needy."
Seriously? Does Gattu imagine that rich and poor, insured and uninsured, have equal access to health care?

I think they might be changing Agastya's character considering the audience might have commented...well mocking poor people is no good.

The audience didn't hear "I hate poor people" until the September 11 episode. It hasn't even been two weeks.
Is it possible for a TV show to adjust to audience reactions so quickly?
Whatever Gattu is doing at the hospital to prove that he has a heart, it had to be written into the plot of Gattu's encounters with Imlie^3, then scripted, shot, and edited. That's a minimum of four days after the makers realized that their male lead looks stupid blaming poor people.
How quickly are they improving set safety after Mahendra Yadav died of electrocution? That concern might be more urgent than tweaking characterization.
Maybe Gattu is at the hospital for damage control. He told Annapurna in an offhand way that food inspectors discovered Sonali's adulteration of ingredients, but that's actually serious. Discovered how? Most likely, several people were hospitalized with digestive problems, and public health investigators determined that all of them had consumed Chaudhary Sweets products. Now, Gattu is distributing free samples to convince them that the brand isn't deadly.
This is the issue I have with this ITV show writers, somehow they try to whitewash Narcissist ML characters, which is very annoying.
Today through Jugs, they are trying to emphasize Agastya soft side. A guy does some good deeds doesn’t give him any rights to be a Narcissist or classist. He helps a needy doesn’t give him a license to judge anyone & everyone.
Even today he was judging the bar girls as opportunist, lazy & dishonest. At least Imlie is apologetic about her lies & she was forced to lie coz he denied her the opportunity coz of her social standing. But he is so unapologetic about putting down the bar girls, when they did no wrong to him. They are just doing their job for their living who is this guy to moral police them. Why doesn’t this guy set such high standards for himself and straight away refuse to marry & give up on family business. When he decides to use a bar girls majboori for his benefits, then first things to fly out of the windows will be morals ethics, laaz sharm, sachaaii, but today he talks like lord Ram & Raja Harishchandra. This guys hypocrisy is quite disgusting.
I wish they stick by the promo and show imlie refused to be his contract wife, when she gets to know that he the same guy who called her ‘Giri huwi auraat’
There goes the script and the screen play. How cliche was the scene where dhadhi pretends a heart attack to emotionally blackmail Agastya and when he already got to know she was only acting then why agree for a marriage. Neither Agastya refusing to marry looked sincere nor his accepting it looks real. Altogether the whole scene looks so lame, came off so fake and Agastya’s intentions also looks superficial.
Whether he is wants to get married for family business or out of family pressure the fact remains that he will use a poor girls majboori for his benefits.
Imlie gets into contract marriage for money and he out of his family pressure cum business. Both are sailing the same boat, if she is wrong then he is also wrong and His hypocrisy hits the roof top when he compromises on ethics and value for his benefits while lecturing others for it.
Imlie’s web of lies is going to land her in a very bad place, even though her intentions are not wrong still she is going to get wrongly blamed but she asked for it the moment she decided to pretend as a rich girl despite knowing the nasty attitude of Agastya towards poor ppl and how low he thinks of them.
When a young man says, "I don't believe in the institution of marriage," his grandmother's concern shouldn't be how to convince him to get married anyway, so that whatever happens next will be his wife's problem.
Annapurna should be asking Gattu, what sexual morals will you follow as an unmarried man? There are two basic options: either lifelong celibacy (with a risk of frustration leading to mental illness) or sex outside marriage (with a risk of unplanned/planned pregnancy). If you choose celibacy, why? If not ...
What sort of sexual partner(s) should I expect in your future? Woman, man, non-binary? Casual, monogamous, polyamorous? Will you meet in public accommodations, or visit each other, or live together as a household, or live with us as a joint family?
Do you expect privacy in this village? If society talks about your sexual partner(s) the way you talk about girls who work at the bar, will you feel good about yourself? Will you be able to walk away from someone who will be viewed as your discarded plaything?
Are you willing to raise children who will be judged by this society? If not, let's schedule a vasectomy. (Don't worry; it's reversible.) It's not 100% reliable birth control, and whoever is pregnant gets to decide whether a child is born. Are you prepared for that?
You have lived on your own for years in London. Is there anything already happening that you want us to accept?

Lol 😂 I don’t think the Choudary’s are that forward thinking or futuristic to think in above lines.
They are a typical feudal family with a regressive mindset, where ppl think
- only the rich are classy while poor ppl are low life
- having interest in sangeeth which doesn’t have any economic value is a waste of life
- ppl who have interest in singing & dancing are ‘nachaniyaas’
- women in gungaat & dupataah only deserve respect others are ‘Giri huwee auraath’
- But it’s ok to compromise on the quality of product you sell to make profits
- opportunity is given based on social & economic status and not talent
- where ‘vaaris’ can only be a ‘Potha’ not ‘Pothi’
- it’s completely ok to loath and insult poor ppl in broad daylight publicly so long as you you help them in the night.
- only purpose of education is to make munafaa in family business, if one knows that then they don’t need education. Sonali said this to Agastya.
Daadhi didn’t bother once to ask Agastya why he doesn’t believe in marriage all she cares is potha, her ghar ka vaaris and her family business. You think you can expect any kind of a matured or forward thinking from this lot.
