Uhh so your post today didn't really make me smile today.😒 Not sure if you were poking fun at Imlie or at old-world charms. If the latter, then I didn't enjoy the post much because I am an old soul and do like old-world charm in contemporary stories. I definitely DON'T want to see a social media relationship on TV. If you said that out of sarcasm, then totally onboard.👍🏼

I saw Friday's episode and I do agree that the serial is using a 90s story hack of making the FL being body-shamed by snooty salon employees. Besides that, the show is boring AF and I don't even understand which new audiences would get hooked on it and why!!

Wishing the show low TRPs at the earliest.

a bit of both actually. I grew up in that time period and so for me, I am all good with poking fun at bad movies and silly tropes from that time period. 😆 there are certain tropes that I used facepalm even then. 😂 this includes falling in love over someone's poem. (again, the brutal 80s version is my kind of movie. hahahaha). also, confusion over one guy talking/emailing one person while thinking of another person's face -- no, I don't think that is cute at all. I vaguely remember wanting to throw the pillow at the TV while watching a movie on those lines. 😂

I keep wanting the drama to kick into high voltage histronics but that would require real conflict with tooth. it works when you focus on the conflict and the romance just happens along the way. instead, here they are focusing on developing the triangle in order to create conflict and that is just a meh for me. lets see, might check out a few more episodes to decide whether or not to keep watching or to drop it.

S2 the whole plot looks forced. I don't watch even clips on IG. I read WU post. they are trying to create a conflict and the BG looks like 18 year went backwards. the cast is 25-28 year old forward. the whole thing is forced. nothing natural. who will believe post leap of 18 year, still people read poems in Hindi news paper and some one fall in love with poet just by reading it. why can't he ask cheeni directly if she is the poet. what is the need of triangle? why Imlie will fall in love with the person whose alliance just came for her

you need to understand a bit of the last track/arc which was convoluted to say the least. for some viewers like myself, it made zero sense.

so let me recap -- imlie 1.0 for reasons that cannot be explained gets obsessed with cheeni. now, who is cheeni? she is the daughter of imlie 1.0's half-sister malini and her ex-husband (hubby#1). it made zero sense because both these half-sisters hated each other and at one point rivals for the affections of the same man. so, some of us viewers were like why is imlie 1.0 having so much feels for her ex's child? if she cared so much that this baby will not be looked after, why not give the child to tripathis? but no, she has to be super mahaan or depressed (after miscarriage and split with hubby) that she takes in cheeni she finds at the temple -- instead of calling the police like regular people. then when the truth comes out, she insists that she did not kidnap at all and it was all out of concern. 🤦🤦

now at the end, when imlie 1.0 was killed off, she said that cheeni (who she raised for five years) kept her going and so rathores (hubby#2 family) must raise her. 🙄🙄 again, no sense because cheeni is not orphan. she apparently has tripathi family alive and kicking (that is rupi bua and those relatives), anu (malini's mum / cheeni's grandmother). both tripathi family as well as anu are reasonably well-off. so there was no reason for cheeni to grow up like a pile on in the rathore house because they can afford to raise her. now her growing up in the rathore house without any legal agreement means that cheeni is technically some sort of extended guest. however, she was also raised as imlie 1.0's daughter. hence the grey area on whether she can or cannot inherit or what exactly her place is in this family.

cheeni is well aware that technically imlie 2.0 will inherit everything and so she has this kind of mindset to enjoy what she can. she also knows that she has to fight for her rights because talk is cheap. this whole setup means that someone brought up in these conditions will feel insecure and feel that they will have to snatch what they need to any way. so cheeni has been set up to be evil in some ways.

this whole conflict can be so much better played out if the leap showed these actors playing closer to their ages -- in their late 20s and working professionals. because then, you will really see the rifts happen with high voltage drama. property disputes and inheritance wrangling does not happen with young adults. so instead we have a teenage love triangle here. 🤦

the story as well as the actors have potential but the creatives are writing arcs with immature teenager characterization. they are borrowing liberally from 90s movies and am not sure whether to laugh or facepalm. 😂

for me, one of the biggest question of the leap is who on earth keeps the name cheeni? as a pet name in your childhood but as you grow up? does this girl not have a real name? can you imagine 'cheeni' on your school certificate or aadhar card? 🤣

I looked up some of the portions of today's episode. And I daresay ws not impressed by the characterization of Imlie2 n this Arto guy.

Imlie2 is too sweet n monochromatic. As compared to the quite dabangg n flamboyant personalities of her parents.

I like cheeni better. Even if grey, she is at least relatable. Today I found her lamenting over the death of Imliya n Aryan n that they were the only family she really had n who treated her equally.

N i can't understand the hero yetbhez too confused abt everything. I mean kehna kya chahte ho bhai.

Just read its plot in Wiki. It looks horrible. So basically Atharva and Cheeni both are villain. Hero is yet to make an entry. And there are many leaps in it

Gul and her delusions

I vaguely remember seeing such tropes in 80s-90s movies. however even in those, guy will have a mouth and then bluntly state which sister he was truly hoping to marry. at that point, the real conflict and chaos will begin. so this is such a purana type story that gul is pinching.

it is so strange these characters are all discussing marriage for a girl who is just 18. is no one interested in college? a career? or just to have fun in life?

Mango ji (Sorry, I don't know your real name), in ITV shows, the real qualification is to be 18 for a girl and real career is to get married and keep your husband hooked in the marriage and keep away your jealous sister from your husband. 🤣🤣

That itself is a huge task, keeping in mind you have a toxic in laws and a jealous sister who is ready to snatch away husband and have EMA with him. And you know husbands are ready for EMA anytime with anyone

Fun? this task itself is so fun and entertaining that you will forget about any other fun🤣

Baaki sare careers like teaching, acting, research, marketing, medical, engineering, police, administration, finance etc., are left out for us girls in real life.🤣🤣

I don't remember any show specially focussed on a girl's career

Waise ML also will be a doctor, police, business man etc., only for name sake. They don't show him working anywhere🤣🤣

Story remains the same, just names changes and actors are different. Be it any channel. BG looks like 80s-90s, but people are with modern gadgets and new car models. But mindset about women remains the same. Be it SP or Rangu or any other channel

Besides jokes, I feel depressed about how these shows portray women. FL will be sacrificial and doormat. And PL will go down to such a low level, that it looks like the only purpose of women's life is to get married to a man, by hook or crook. Pathetic

so true! there are a few shows here and there where they show women not being sacrifical and doormat but it is so far and inbetween. what annoys me is that the definition of good seems to be doormat. how is that 'good'? apparently anyone who fights for herself is 'bad'? creatives need to write better characters. and yea, it will be nice to see more women having interests and identity beyond getting married to a man by hook or crook.

Sadly in real life also if a girl takes a stand for herself, that too against a family member, family tradition or family interest, she is branded as bad and arrogant. this patriarchal society likes doormat good women because that is convenient for them. I am sure each one of us must have faced some time in your life and each one of us were told how to behave in society and how to adjust in family. unfortunately we never teach the same to our boys
