Okay, so in my opinion, the situation created here cannot show Imlie siding or guarding Aditya for any purpose. Neither Imlie can think Aryan used her. She is aware of the blatant dislike Aryan has for Aditya, and she has an inkling that it is much more than just male ego. She has got hints of that in his words for example I will not let Aditya Kumar Tripathi ruin my family again. And Imlie heard that. So she has a vague idea, but no clarity on the same. Imlie knows and has heard about Aryan's trauma. But never imagined him to falter or fall ever.
Imlie has always seen Aryan as the stronger character who has never needed support. The storm has created a situation where her pillar of strength has figuratively fallen, and she has no time to process or fall weak or be conflicted about her to be or not to be situation. Aryan's accident has pushed all thoughts of weakness from her mind, cause she knows that right now who needs her the most - Aryan.
Now, Imlie may not do justice with herself many times, but letting someone else suffer is something she will not let happen on her watch. The situation has reversed with Imlie now taking Aryan's place. Jab khud ke saath galat ho to koi seh bhi leta hai; but jab wohi galat kisi aur ke saath hote huye dekhe to seh nahi paate. Aryan identified with Imlie's trauma, hence he is so protective of her. Today, Imlie can identify with Aryan and his fear, trauma, panic, helplessness because she has felt all that some time or another in her life. And the reason being - Aditya.
Aditya has been an irresponsible journalist. He has not even put thought into the repercussions of his actions. When it was restricted to Imlie, she put up with it. Now with Arvind, she will get to see what impact his work has had on outsiders, how much they have suffered for his pride and entitlement. His job as a journalist is to bring out the truth, not vindicate people and make them face media trial, that isn't his job. Maybe Aditya is not responsible for the death, but his actions lead to suffering. And that is what will turn the chapter for Imlie. So I am anticipating ki Imlie Aditya ki lanka lagayegi.
Considering how kaan ka kachcha and petty Aditya is, the marriage may be a misunderstanding again like the office incident. Imlie may sign by proxy for Aryan's treatment and Aditya may create a hue and cry by saying that I was right about you and why all this secret, just come out in the open and marry. Chances are Aryan may be miffed by the sudden turn of events with Imlie, but since Aryan has a functioning brain, he may actually understand Imlie and her reasons. And 50-50 partners may try to salvage the situation, but Aditya will just cause the situation to spiral, leading to them both getting married.
