As much as I'm happy that Imlie gets to be away frm the Tiwari's. Her being away from her comfort zone for so long is I guess too big a punishment. Bt it wd do her gd in the long run. Hope she doesnt get over even Aryan in the meantime. 😝

Year 1

This is a poem from the movie Jeena Isi ka Naam hai: -

Jab suraj aankhen band kare, sajke nikalti hai Mumbai ... kabhi uljhati, kabhi girati, kabhi sambhalti hai Mumbai

Translation: When the sun closes his eyes, then Mumbai adorns and comes out ... Mumbai at times is confusing, at times it's stumbling, at times it gets up

The first six months were hard on Imlie, a new city, a new job and mostly all new people. Narmada ma and Arpita di were frequent visitors and motivators. Imlie stayed at an apartment owned by the Rathore’s with a distant relative who would occasionally come by to help her. Every time she called home, her mom Meethi would console and motivate her to work and study harder. Imlie had a lot to learn, she also needed to learn to separate her professional and personal life. She kept herself busy between her new job and going back to college for her undergrad.

Arpita di and Narmada would visit often and talk about everything and everyone except Aryan. Neither would he ever talk to her nor would allow his family to talk about him.

Imlie also learned that her step sister, Malini had given birth to a baby boy, hence the T’s were all busy with the new grand child. Initially they inquired about Imlie but with passage of time they stopped inquiring about her. To them it was a case of out of sight, out of mind. Once she was away and not there, they did not have anyone to unload their issues on and hence they did not miss her presence.

Another issue that cropped up with Imlie leaving was, the deteriorating relationship between Adi and Malini, neither of them had anyone to blame their failing marriage on. For the sake of keeping up appearances they kept themselves entangled in an empty relationship that now revolved around their child and nothing more.

Even though Dev had provided help to the Ts, Dev had made clear that he too had to ask for loans from private financiers for the Ts, so he requested them to help pay back the loan. So all of the T’s were in some or another capacity working to repay the 5 crore.

By year 2 of her “exile” Imlie had also begun to recognize that her equation with the Ts were based on her always giving or giving up. She would give her time, energy and emotions or give up her self respect for them and in return all she got was a lot of empty and broken promises. So finally over her slump she steeled her emotions against the Ts to never fall in to that pit of despair again.

Imlie had learned some very important lessons during the past two years of moving to Mumbai, she had also met some very interesting people. Single moms, self made women, very independent and strong women who lived life on their own terms. She had learned a lot about healthy relationships and toxic relationships. She had also learned that unlike how she was raised, she too had every right to pursue romantic entanglements and her divorcee tag was irrelevant to the world.

The last two year were not easy for Aryan either, he had a lot of mess to clean up that was brought forth by Aditya Tripathi. Not only Aryan had to shell out money to buy the T house, but he also had to ensure that none in the T family knew about Imlie’s whereabouts.

Aryan also needed to get over his revenge against Aditya, even though he hated AKT from the very fibre of his being, seeing how AKT himself had destroyed his professional achievement by half discovered truths and over hyped reporting, gave Aryan some semblance of peace.

Aryan also had to ensure that he got most of his money back from the Ts as a steady stream of installments, which required him to hire a few of them in some of his other companies that no one knew about. Aryan could have written off the entire amount but he felt that after everything that family put him and Imlie thru this was the least he could get in return from them.

Aryan also had tried to keep himself away from Imlie for the past year, he knew that she needed to spread her wings and explore the world around her which would not have been possible with the Ts being near her. When he had sent her to Mumbai his hope was that the distance would also cool his feelings towards her but they had dimmed not gone. His mom and sister had tried to set him up with other women or tried to convince him to bring back Imlie but all in vain.

Unbeknownst to either of them he did occasionally go to Mumbai and watched her from afar, seeing as to how she was managing. Seeing her with friends, people of her age, cutting it loose sometimes with guys of her age would give rise to jealousy but he would temper it down and walk away.

Fate of course sometimes will play games and on one such clandestine visit.

This was two and a half year after.

One early morning Imlie dropped by the office building, she has an important report to submit and the deadline was later that day. Imlie now worked as a feature writer for an international blog/magazine that Aryan’s company managed.

Just as she was running in to the elevator, she tripped inside, bracing herself for an impact she felt herself engulfed in a pair of strong arms and a scent that was familiar, an almost distant memory.

When she looked up hoping to thank her savior, when she found herself at loss for words. Here he was holding her, keeping her safe again, her Akkadbagga, Aryan Singh Rathore.

Their eyes met, gazes locked, arms intertwined and time stopped..
