M, aapka essay kahan hai? I finally slept after 36 hours! Since we were talking about the biting, she's bitten him even in the show because she knows no other way to faze him either emotionally or physically. There's no other outlet for her very explosive grief and frustration.

Aru, the gem he is, doesn't overreact and absorbs all her pain here and there.

Murali, dekho if you love the biting chronicles

Poooju, please thoda sa edit kar dees spelling mistakes 😭

"Jangli! Kat kya rahi ho, chot lagi hai mujhe—", Aryan tried to hold off a ferocious Imlie. She could not care about being guided by him tonight She wanted to be unfettered tonight— as Jangli as possible could be. Fisting her small hands, she kept battering his heart. "Tum sahari logon ko ka lagat sindoor ka hovat raha? Holi ka abeer? Kauno bhi kabhi lagat mukar jais? Tum pucchat rahe— pucchat rahe hamse? Annulment chahi tohar? Hameo chahi. Sunat rahe tum?"

["What do you city people think sindoor is? Holi's colours which can be washed away innocuously? That anyone can just fill it in my maang and abscond? Did you ask-ask me before doing what you did? You want an annulment? So do I!"]

The weather in the doab had been behaving like an itinerant foreigner. Uncaring of their ways of life. Why were black clouds veiling the winter sky, they could not tell.

https://youtu.be/XI9qzplJsbs

"Annulment aur talak aur chhodi hui aurat ke beech ka pharak hamri Amma gaonwalon kaisa samjhayegi? Tum sochat rahe? Chhodi hui—"

["How will my mother explain the difference between 'annulment', 'divorce', and abandonment to our villagers? Did you think about that? Abandone—"]

"Jou log aaj hamri amma ko kulta bolat rahe aur algochha ka farmaan sunavat rahe, unke aage Amma ka bolegi? Tum humka aaj phir beghar Kar dees. Par humka annul- annulment chah—" she sapped into his arms. The rain drenching them and washing off her sindoor.

["How would Amma justify herself in front of the people who were calling her a wh-re and punishing her with social expulsion? You have rendered me homeless again; but I want an annul-annulment—"

Algochha= social expulsion]

Aryan couldn't think, he deserved all of her accusations, trepidation, hatred. He just walked them into the hospital wing where a wolverine Malini Tripathi was hovering over her husband, and ranting off into the void. Anybody else could have missed their dishabilled state and Imlie's cinnabar-tinted maang. Malini Tripathi wasn't anybody.

"Tum aur tumhare iss boyfriend ne milkar mere pati kya haal Kar diya. Tumhare iss boyfriend ne jaan boojhkar Aditya ko tumhare manhoos gaon bheja. Unka pair septic ho sakta tha, thank God ki unka bukhar chhut gaya. Aur tumne yeh sindoor kyon", she clawed into Imlie's arms, " isse dusron ka sindoor churane ki purani aadat hai, mom! Apne boyfriend ke hote hue bhi mere pati par ko fasa rahi thi, kya wapas meri grihasti mein dusri aurat banke—"

["You and your boyfriend have done this to my husband willfully. This boyfriend of yours sent him to that accursed village deliberately. Thank God he's fevered no more. Why are wearing this sindoor? Did you try to worm your way into my marriage again? You tried to seduce my husband despite your boyfriend being with you!"]

"Enough—" Bass!" Aryan was stunned by the ferocity in her voice. Had they really spoken together? Bas hui gava. Hamne aapka sindoor nahi, aapka pati nahi churavat rahe, hum sirf ghar jaana chahis."

[ "Enough is enough, I didn't steal either your sindoor or your husband. i just want to go home."]

"Sir, aap please apna chot ki dressing kara lees. Tetanus ka teeka bhi laga lees. Apan chot bheeg javat raha. Kakima, ka pleej amma aur Nani kuccho din apan ghar ma raha sakat hais?' "Ye-yes beta." Ma, Rupi didi, pleej Babusaheb ki har khabar hame devat rahi.

[Sir, please get your wound dressed. You must also take a tetanus shot; that wound got drenched in the rain. Narmada kakima, may my relatives stay at your place for a few days? Maa, Rupi didi, please keep me updated on Babusaheb's conditions, minute-by-minute."]

As they made their way to his other vehicle, Meethi insisted on not staying at Imaliya's Sasural. "Nahi, aunty aapko Delhi ke kisi hospital me— "ham jaldi dusra ghar dhood lees Amma." That as they say was that.

[ "(Aru says) No, aunty, we must get you checked at a Delhi-hospita— "(Imlie says) I will arrange for another accommodation soon, Amma".

Sasural= husband's familial home]

'Driving with a bandaged hard was going to hurt like hell', thought Aryan, only till he saw her take the steering wheel.

Dilli dur ast.

It took nearly three hours to drive from Bulandshahr to Delhi. Three excruciating hours, with three eerily quiet women cramped up in the backseat, and his wife Imlie not speaking to him.

It was nearly 3:30 in the morning that Meethi's wound had scraped raw again. "Imlie, Rathore mansion ke roundabout pe jo Apollo hai wahan le chalo. Hurry up, c'mon, damnit'.

["Imlie, turn to the hospital near Rathore mansion. Hurry up, c'mon, damnit"]

Aryan insisted to get Meethi and Dulari admitted at the hospital even through the wound had been securely restitched, and Nani wasn't wose for wear. "Akkadbaghakahe banat rahe ho, ham Amma aur Nani ka dhyaan rhakat jaani hai, aur tum kahe ee aspatal ka billwa bharoge?"

["Why are you being an Akkadbagha, I can take care of my mother and grandma, and why will you pay for this private hospital?"]

"Bewakoof! Chup! They have gone through something traumatic, unhe andruni chot lagi ho aisa ho sakta hai.Kanpur ke hospital me itne equipments nahi the. Under observation rakhna padega." "Tohar paisa hum nahi—' 'Shut up , Imlie! Ghar chalo, rest karo aur subah wapis aao"

[Idiot! Quiet! They could have some internal injuries from the traumatic event. They need to be kept under observation; the hospital in Bulandshahr was ill-equipped—" I don't want your mone—" Shut up, Imlie! Go home, rest and come back in the morning]

As the mother-son-Imlie turned up at Rathore Mansion. an anxious and tear-stricken Arpita smashed into Aryan, pecking him all over the face. "Di, chot lagi hai, aaah". Arpita ignored him and crushed Imlie into a hug. A numb Imlie hugged her and made her way to her roo

["Di, I am wounded, aaah"].

Aryan's eyes followed her as she walked away from him to her room in the opposite win

"Aru

"Abhi nahi ma

["Aru..."

"Not now, Ma."]

———

Imlie couldn't get herself to cry, she just changed into a azure kurti and went sleep. He tormented her in her sleep, damn him!

Aru couldn't have slept had he tried. How could he clear up this mess? She felt homeless, how could he tell her that she wasn't? He was too tired yet adrenaline-driven to think about the annul—No.

She had woken up just a couple of hours later, she had gone to pray to Seeta Maiyya when her sindoor caught her eyes.

'No, not this time.'

She made her way to the kitchen where Kaki maa helped her pack a tiffin for Amma and Nani. And she left. Before she could face him.

The lack of sindoor in Imlie's maang had not gone unnoticed by Narmada, but she knew better than to torment these poor souls.

Damn, she was avoiding him. He couldn't find her. He needed to speak to her about her sick-leave and Dulari's doctor as well. '"Ma, Imlie kahan hai?" " She gone to the hospital auto leke".

["Ma, where's Imlie?"]

"Shit! Apne usse roka kyon nahi, itne subah akele auto leke?" "Aru, you know what you did."

["Shit! Why did you let her leave alone in an auto-rickshaw so early in the morning?"]

He was already making his way to the hospital when he saw Imlie at the dispensery. He quietly gave the compounder his credit card and helped her collect the meds. " Iml-Imlie" God help him he did not want to shout here. Obediently following her to Meethi and Nani-ji's suite.

Both of them were sleeping comfortably. He set the medicines in the pill-box as Imlie was set up fresh Rajanigandhas in the corner vase.

He dragged her outside. " Narazagi jatao. Ladna hai, ladh lo par banjar mat bano, damnit." She wasn't listening to hiim. Maine Pagdandiya ki saari crew ka ek hafte ka casual leave sanction Kar diya hai. Tumhara aur Mr.Tripathi ka sick leave bhi—

["Be enraged with me, fight if you have to but don't be like this heat-scorched land, damnit. I have sanctioned one-week's paid leave for the entire Pagdandiya crew. Your and Mr. Tripathi's sick leaves too have be—"]

'Why was she walking away from him again, who didn't like paid leaves anyway?'

My heart wanders without you

Restlessly, without you.

This separation, this boudoir, this symphony

My eyes grow weary

Throughout the night

For you

These threads of my breath.

Break but in a moment

When you turn away your face

From me, oh beloved!

My body gives up on life

Look at me but for a second

A second to live an eternity.

Tere jaise mera aaj bheja fry! Too much time spent on Arylie DT

As always, you chose another one of my favorite songs, Virah from Bandish Bandits. One of the only songs in that album that actually means something other than Latt Uljhi.

Blue right now I am so disconnected from Imlie, the character, in the show that its coloring my thoughts on this chapter, sowwwweeee, so all my sympathies simply lie with Aru, ma boi. He is the only character that sort of stays consistent across all AU.

Yes, he did marry her impulsively and with good (subconscious) reasons, and yes, she knows none of that. So of course, she is pissed off. That once again she a man had to marry her to save her from the wrath of her villagers, this time that venom was directed against her only real family, her mother and grandmother. She feels protective of them and her naturally independent nature rebels against any help he may provide, because he is not THAT man that had to marry her to save them. Dunno if I am making sense. Its 4.30 AM and my brain is short circuited.

Aru though, oh I so feel his angst. His sukoon lies in her, after all and she keeps rejecting every attempt at communication with him. Ahhhh....mera dil, kab tak tadpayegi ye womaniya, Aru ko? Writerji, when are you going to put us out of our misery. Show mein paagalpan aur idhar itna raw emo-sun! Just do it already for our sakes. I need some calm in the Arylie seas men!

As always, thanks for the tag. ❤️

posting for @Bluegrass

Two things of which I was certain and teesri ka dekhte hain. (This is tied to your essay as well, Doc).

1. I knew this is exactly how Imlie would react wrt to BS-jiju and Aru. Today's Aru-Meethi scene was almost a mirror of the hospital-tumhe-mohabbat scene I wrote in Chapter 2. I knew Fahmaan would nail it. And he had my whole heart.

2. They are heading for cool-off. After seeing her absolutely deranged cry-laughing for BS-jiju and whatever crescendo we have in the hut, I want Aru to support her but also put some external distance between them back in Delhi. I don't want him to turn cold, neither do I want him to him mindlessly hug a splintered piece of wood. He can be giving yet not allow her to noticeably play ping-pong with him. Maybe actual employer like distance. It would frustrate her in minute ways till MV's negative Aru wracks his shell again. A don't-you-dare-Mr.Tripathi would be nice.

Now that they have brought in Meethi and Aru's mutual understanding, can she and NN play as a buffer to her Tripathi obsession? I would rather see Aru play a hero to Meethi than those leeches.

Teesri baat : Imlie comes from a school of socialisation where a religious marriage trumps legal (in) validation of it. Women frankly are expected to tolerate their husband's philandering in the name of being pativrata. That's why she accepted her shotgun wedding and that's why Adini marriage seems like a very small deterrent to her. But what happens if she gets tied to another marriage? Frankly Gul cannot give slow-burn for an extensively long period of time. There would be no real conflict between a shelled Aru and an Adi/lie EMA for too long. It's one thing to enable your ex-husband to emotionally cheat on his assaulter. Another thing altogether to cheat on your own husband. That's another thing I want to be explored in the show as well as my AU.
