#1 This is absolutely no attempt to defend either Aryan or this scene (romanticization of this scene per se), only trying a different POV because I need this for my peace of mind. The reason, I put Aryan at some pedastal (not from day one, but slowly day by day as I see the character unfold) and in simple terms in can't handle that pedastal crumbling. Not that I think of him as some Mr. Goody-two-shoes, I know he has a grey side to him and I'm all for it. And I'm all for the rough play too (but in a sane and consensual relationship, absolutely not in abuse of power dynamics)
#2 This might refer to views of a lot of people in forum that I read today. And I'm respectful to all those views, agree with them party/fully and claim no credit for just repeating them here. But also I find them to be excuses and not explanation per se (meaning no offense to anyone at all)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I need to rationalise this purely based on Aryan as a character that has been weaved over past 53 episodes, I can't let the burden of this pass onto others like:
#1 imlie was being annoying with her BS jaap since last few days/episodes so we can't expect him to be calm.
#2 Adi has done this/worse or other MLs in other shows are worse, sorry but ones mistake can't be justified by another person's bigger mistake
#3 he was out of character at that moment, typical gul hero, typical ITV guy explanation.
Because as ASR says, being an adult means taking responsibility of our actions rather blaming others for it.
So I watched the episode again and found this...
When imlie was spiralling downwards (for the nth time in last few days) in her worry for Aditya Kumar Tripathi, he couldn't handle it and wanted to shake her out out of it immediately - symbolising expectations that she forget her past too soon and drown in his passion (bgm - jaaniyaaaaa...)
And this I identify with the guy who ignored the fallen girl and kicked the stone out of his way, who threw water in her face, tied dupatta on her mouth - essentially this is Aryan Singh Rathore before Imlie
But when he saw her shock and tears, realised he was hurting or rather he was hurting her.... He stopped.
Instead held her hands gently and led her out slowly signifying change of approach from agressive to patient (indicated by change of song in bg) - symbolism he'll always hold back for her, try again differently and not let his expectations overpower his need to protect her.
And this I identify with the guy who supported her on the worst night of her life, who stood up to all the verbal abuse thrown at her, who went ahead making himself uncomfortable by dancing in weird clothes just to cheer her up, who picked that payal up and kept it safe by instinct - essentially this is Aryan Singh Rathore after Imlie.
Both are a side of him and signify the 2 alternative approach to this relationship going further.
And Aryan's journey will be which side he acts on what situation as this relationship progresses over time.
PS: tagging some people who are less active and i think do not visit this thread and/or were similarly disturbed by this.
