Malini must either be 31+ or a really new/novice teacher. College positions require a pre-PhD degree even for the lowest grade teaching jobs. That must have taken around 26-27. She is characterised as a very mature teacher instead of a very hip/new teacher.

It's not about didiya being intelligent but making a blunder just to save her ass. May she won't be able to think anything better & would end up putting everything on Aryan. Plus Aryan's gestures towards Imlie are anything but professional & it has been called out during the wedding quite a few times.
