Oh dear, yes, he has no value to Imlie and he can't do anything to stop the trajectory of this mess BUT I do believe he can be used to create parallels. His relationship with Methi & Anu - how Methi finally achieved closure to accept the love of Satyakam - I think he can be used to depict what has happened in the past and what may happen now.
