Imlie is his only truth.

Hi,

I am a very inactive member and silent reader of this forum. But after seeing yesterday's promo of SK beating Adi, I just could not stop myself. So just writing my understanding of Adi's character.

Aditya Kumar Tripathi, What a growth graph for a character.

From deciding to not reveal the truth behind his practical joke when Malini just fainted TO standing firm on his ground even after Malini tried to commit suicide.

From treating Imlie worse than an animal coz he was afraid of loosing his true relations for a fake relation TO always standing behind/with Imlie even at the cost of those same relations.

What an Himalayan shift ..

In his third trip to PD, he not only realized his love of Imlie.. He realized many more things:

1. Life has always been unfair to Imlie. Her forced marriage with him and his reaction to that marriage only added to burdens in her already troubled life.
2. Imlie faced all that life gave to her with courage and smile on her face. This also includes his ruthless behaviour with her.
3. Despite of all challenges, Imlie has immense love for everyone she meets and she is ready to sacrifice whatever little she owns for literally anyone.

On top of all these he also realized that he loved her. All these realizations at once just blew him away.. Everything else faded in the background and Imlie became his only truth.

There are moral issues involved if you see only at surface level but I believe that such gigantic shift in attitude doesn’t happen without the will of destiny.

He had no intentions of breaking Malini’s trust. He tried every thing to send Imlie away from his life. But somethings are beyond our control. He was not looking for love.. Love just happened to him. And now that it has happened what options he has.. Continue to live in loveless relation for the sake of social norms and make three lives miserable .. or face the truth and its consequences..

As for Malini, I dont think she is wrong in way she is behaving (except for suicide attempt) but life is not fair to anyone. It will not be fair to Malini too. Adi’s unintentional betrayal is what life has thrown at her just like Dev’s intentional betrayal made Imlie’s life tough from her birth. Its upto Malini what she makes of it.

I think in a show with so many complexities and angles, there’s only one angle that has unfairly been too much focused on with ignoring the rest. Which is why imlie gets villainised despite any fault of hers. Like you said, a show like this cannot be looked at the surface level when they are trying to give depth to each character and so many layers in the story involved.

P.S. I don’t think Adi treated imlie worse than an animal, back then he was a major jerk because he associated his trauma with her, many better ways to handle it and it was not right the way he treated imlie for it but he never actively tried to trouble her. He wanted to be rid of her but always ended up protecting her even then. His anger came out when she used to come in front of him, taking out what PD people did on her, focusing on his pain and forgetting in the process she was hurt and traumatised too. Which was a obviously was very wrong and one of the reasons why part of the fandom is so excited to see him beat up for it now 😆

Such a lovely Post.There is no right way to describe Adhi character ,he is neither right or wrong. He tried his level best to ignore his forced marriage to Imlie , treated her so bad . He did stay truthful to Malini . Adhi falling in love with Imlie was not meant to happen ,but it did happen . Even with Malini suicide attempt him wanting to end is marriage with Malini shows his willpower.There is no right way in ending a marriage it is difficult for both the partners. Why should one want to continue in a relationship without love. Adhi is not a perfect hero, he has his faults that is what makes this character real. Life had not been kind to all three of them .How each one comes out stronger in spite of the fallout is what to be seen.
