I'll preface my comment by saying that it is tangential to the topic, but it is still relevant so bear with me.😆

While the wielding of power reveals who you are, it also leaves you vulnerable if you don't have the strength of character to wield it properly. This is why power in the wrong hands is a double edged sword. While wielding it it fuels their ego immensely but eventually it leads them on a self-destructive path. It becomes their opiate...they become hopelessly addicted to it and will go to any lengths to preserve their power. Addiction to power becomes their downfall. This is the core teaching of most Hindu scriptures right, that we should all be wary of letting ahamkara taking control of us. Because then we no longer have any control over ourselves...we end up being a puppet in the hands of our own ego. Malini is a tragic example of this.

She got everything a person could ask for in life, but she ruined everything with her own bare hands. She is beautiful, comes from money, is a professor in a college & her parents are well connected. But her addiction to her privilege and position of power became her downfall. In enjoying all this, she neglected to build an inner constitution. Hence she doesn't have an individual identity...an inner sense of self that helps us persevere and prevail in the most difficult of circumstances. Whereas Imlie has this inner constitution, she has had to forge it by facing continuous setbacks and harshness from people around her. She didn't need power or any privileges to get ahead in life, and that I think is true power. Because it comes from within. External power cannot compare to it.

Very well said, KK. True power is indeed internal rather than external. The external is usually a projection used to control perceptions.

Imlie's power lies in her strong inner constitution like you said, so she isn't dependent on an external source to assign her power that can go to her head.....she draws power from her core convictions and belief system which thanks to Mithi and SK's upbringing is solid all around.
