What an episodes it was. What a glorification for Suicide. And what a inspirational character
You are of course entitled to your opinion but this is a difficult story to tell but in the end- its just story. It is not your traditional movie/serial- where you have a hero who is all good and a villain is all bad. That is what makes it so interesting. Here the main character is a flawed character, which is real. In real life- you take any person- in someone's eye's they will be good and in another's they will be bad. I can understand Aditya's emotional conundrum. At every step of the way Aditya has tried to do the best to keep everyone happy around him - who he cares about. I think the point of the whole story, that the story writers have taken care to show that he has never really loved Malini- at one point he says once I come back from Pagdandiya- you will get your wish to marry and yes at that point he thinks he likes her enough to get married. Afterwards, there was an episode where he told Malini he got married to Imlie in Pagdandiya. He came clean and she was too fragile to bear that disclosure. Perhaps his mistake was he should have been firm then- even if she suffers- this is the truth. And may be also his fault is he never gave Imlie a chance in the beginning- he was so angry with her. But then if he had- it would be a different story...😆I can’t justify Imli’s didi jaap. She keeps on rubbing sindoor back on after all that drama ... knowingly comes back home and into adi’s life. Adi the spineless he is too weak to stand for what is right from day one. He looks and treats Malini Edited by DT Too stupid behavior on his part. All of the sudden he is not in love and can’t return “ love you too” friends say that back as well doesn’t have to be in luv to return sentiment. It was so heart breaking to watch malini. Imli was just a traitor all the way. Don’t be goodie two shoe if she knowingly doing what she is doing.
As for not saying I love you to her- there are several times- he has never said it back to her even before. He is tired of all the lies he has had to say and from now on wants to be honest to her and his feelings. If he says I love you- will that not be giving Malini hope? Today he says I love you and then tomorrow he is asking to meet her to explain that he loves someone else- is that going to make her feel better?
Imlie's is a very clear character. According to the rules of her village she has been married. She honors that marriage and knows the value of that sindoor- she has seen her mother suffer her whole life because she could never claim the honor of wearing sindoor. It is precious to her. If it were up to her she would be wearing it from day 1. But she understands Aditya's situation and does her best to manage that situation. Once Aditya gifts it to her- she wears it- but she hides it. She doesnt flaunt it infront of Malini to hurt her. As far as Malini is concerned , Imlie has given an explanation- even during the interview that its a custom from her village -its a blessing of the village God. Malini saw the interview on TV and she accepts that explanation. As far as she is concerned- Imlie is wearing sindoor like a blessing, then why should Malini get so bothered by it? because Imlie disobeys her? Even if Imlie is wearing sindoor in someone's name- Malini doesnt know who that person is and until today she has not suspected Imlie to be more than she is. Then why the drama? She is angry because Imlie will face consequences in college- if Imlie isnot worried of the consequences why should it bother Malini? Why do all that drama?
And as for coming back to Delhi, it was always understood Imlie had to come back for her studies. If she stays too long in the village, people will make her life hell and will not allow her o return to the city. She doesn't tell Aditya where she is staying and consistently tells him and Adi's uncle she will not come back. And yeah- she is tempted to be back with the family she loves and so she gives in. She is not a robot either. If you have watched every episode from the beginning- Imlie has always been consistent in that she will never get in the way of Malini and Aditya. She is keeping steady to that word- in fact the only reason Aditya didnot tell Malini the truth as soon as he came back from PD knowing that he loves Imlie is because Imlie doesnt want him to say it and hurt Malini.
you are right .this week full with malini drama.😭😡As per your POV whatever you said might be correct but for me if Malini had any spine she would not crawl back to the trupathi’s and Aditya. She should cut the relationship when this has reached to this point. But will she be able to do that . Let’s see.
She is emotional and heartbroken but why instead of confronting doing all these things . This week has not been blissful for Adlie fans as well. It is mighty depressing for me.
Women empowerment is not necessarily how you define it to be. Woman empowerment is also for Imlie to be ok with her belief system without a whole bunch of people calling it regressive. Its her belief system - who are we to question it and bracket her belief as restrictive? She is 19 - if she needs to evolve she will - based on her life's experiences and other exposure to the world - such as today's terrifying episode. Woman empowerment is for her to discover right vs wrong and follow her heart and mind...not have well intentioned people descend on her to educate her based on their definitions of regressive behavior.
I really like her character sketch - so far. Sh has a core set of values, belief's and sticks with them for the most part - unless manipulated by Adi or feels the need to sacrificially accomodate someone she loves. She is strong. Every episode underlines her strength and Malini's weakness.
I personally would be happy for her to give up her sindoor and focus on her life and let Adi and MAlini sort out the mess they have made of their lives and move out.
Its really Adi - I feel sorry for at this point - not Imli - imagine realizing what kind of person you dated for 7 years and feeling trapped because of current circumstances. But he is reaping the results of his actions. I hope makers make him feel enough suffocation - so he realizes his mistakes...and analyzes where he went wrong in understanding Malini.
You are missing the point of my post. I am talking about society as a whole. The writers of these shows have enormous power in planting seeds of change, one character at a time, rejecting one regressive idea at a time.
This could, eventually, lead to wholesale change in society. Change, which can give women more freedom of choice. Imlie is a perfect example of a character who could have been used to change society. Imlie was very adamant at the beginning that she has no desire to get married. It wasn't part of her future plans and she was completely focused on her future. I had very high hopes for her! If she had only rejected the gun-point wedding as illegal, had refused to wear the red sindoor, and did not accept Aditiya as her husband, just imagine how radical that would have been!!! And if only the journalist character was based in reality, and wrote in-depth stories about these regressive things that happen in rural India. Do you get my gist?
The show is very popular - just imagine how this one character could have at least gotten some people in these villages thinking about their culture and traditions which are just accepted and never questioned.
Instead, the writers chose to show Imilie embracing all the traditions, which, in MY POINT OF VIEW, just suppress women, yet again. I see no empowerment in accepting the status quo. I know it is very 2021 to be totally accepting of everyone's individuality and accepting of everyone's choices. Like Imilie and her choices. But are her choices really all hers to make? She is still confined within the boundaries of her village culture. That is no choice at all.
If only Imlie could break free from this cycle of suppression .... This show had started off as very hopeful.
