Sahir Azeem Chaudhry is the male protagonist of
SET India's Humsafars . Shown to be a depressed
yet ambitious fashion mogul, he is portrayed by
actor Harshad Chopra. Sahir is caught between
his love for Arzoo and nostalgia towards his
comatose wife.
History
Born in the Chaudhry household, Sahir has a
younger brother named Zaki. He lives with his
mother Alvira and relatives Anam and Kurti Aapa.
Ten years prior to the show, Sahir wed a woman
named Zeenat, to whom he vowed to become one
of India's wealthiest businessman. He later gifted
her a car and while driving it, she got into an
accident and went into a coma. Sahir's promise
accelerated to even more significance and was
ambitious ever since. When he first directly
encounters Arzoo, it is during one of Saiyaara's
(his fashion house) fashion shows. She angers
him when he confronts her and immediately
dislikes her. He then learns that he is staying at
his house and reluctantly decides to let her work
for Saiyaara. Sahir is captivated by her talent and
brave attitude, and also surprised by her
willingness to prove that she is the owner of the
designs that Anam steals. He feels attracted to
Arzoo, but reprimands and controls himself from
getting intimate with her, not knowing that she
harbors genuine feelings for him. Kurti Aapa
poisons his mind towards Arzoo by labeling her
as a gold-digger. Rahman Sahab is introduced as
Sahir's final business partner whose deal will then
earn him a position in the top ten. However,
Rahman demands that his daughter Samaira
(who claims to be pregnant) get married to
Sahir's brother Zaki. When Sahir requests that he
does, Zaki reveals that he loves Arzoo, angering a
jealous Sahir who becomes adamant on
convincing Zaki of Arzoo's "true colours". He
romances and deliberately pampers Arzoo before
making a seemingly false confession of love.
Arzoo believes in him and agrees to marry him,
only to get heartbroken after he immediately
reveals that he is a married man. She vows to
hate him but he realizes his mistake and finally
accepts to himself that he actually does love her.
Sahir is hurt when Arzoo agrees to marry a still
hopeful Zaki, and interrupts their wedding to force
Arzoo into a marriage with him instead.
Meanwhile, Zeenat shows signs of recovery and is
brought back into Sahir's house. Arzoo tries to
tell him that Zeenat is faking her coma but Sahir
dismisses her claims.
