Sony's Muslim social Humsafars starring popular actor Harshad Chopra is on it s way out. According to sources this Four Lions production will bid adieu to its fans sometime next month. The writing had been on the wall for quite some time now. For this fashion house backdrop show which had started only in late September had never really registered on the TRP front, it opened to around 0.5 TVR. It further dropped to 0.3. And latest ratings give it just 0.2.
When Sony other recent show Itti Si Khusi (Rajan Shahi production )had fallen to 0.3, it was given the marching orders, we guess something similar happened to Humsafars as well. Itti Si Khushi had gone on air a week after Humsafars .
When we spoke to Harshad, he denied getting any such information but at the same time said he will not be surprised if such decision is indeed taken, "as a show has to have a certain minimum ratings to justify its continuation."
When asked to what went wrong he said, "I really don't know. Ratings are not in our hand. All we can do is to put in our best and that is what I have done. I again stress Humsafars is a good show. The reason why I signed on the dotted line was that I liked the script and my character. I have no complaints with the production house for my character has less remained the same as during the narration." Says this actor who generally has felt that stories completely change due to TRP pressure.
We also tried to get in touch with producer Gul Khan and channel executive to get a confirmation but to no avail.
The recent exit of Itti Se Khusi( 2nd Jan after just 63 episodes) and the off air going news of Humsafars must have started to ring alarm bells in the team of Sony TV's other show Tum Aisi Hi Rehna( Rashmi Sharma Production) which is also at a rating of just 0.3. On the other hand Pratyusha Banerjee and Kunwar Dhillon leads of Hum Hain Na unit must be feeling a bit relaxed for it is doing 0.5 which is somewhat better than the two above shows.
