The relationship of Sahir and Arzoo has always been..different..for the lack of a better word. It was not instant attraction. It was not love at first sight. Neither had it been the slow process of getting to know each other, liking, becoming friends and then lovers kind of a thing either. It was different. Ever since they first met, neither could ignore the other's presence. They growled, scowled, fought, insulted, made up, liked, respected, shared, talked..with words as well as silences. They went through and felt a whole truck load of feelings and emotions. But indifference has never been one of them. They were like two magnets always gravitating towards each other. If one moved even a little bit, the other adjusted his / her position at the same time. It was different. And intense.
Locking eyes with each other and touching each other are things that neither could stop themselves from doing. It is an extraordinary feeling for them. Like their bones are turning into sponges as a light-headed feeling steels over them. Almost like they have forgotten to breathe. Again. Take last night for example. The way he kept touching her and she kept responding to that touch..(I mean the poor girl couldn't even lower her eyes to see what he had actually replaced her watch with. And he couldn't let go of her hand long enough to let her cut the cake on her own.) And if I am not wrong last night's touch..the way he wiped away her tears and every touch that followed that first one were different in the sense that they were neither forced nor accidental. It was what both had been knowingly and unknowingly waiting for. And the relief it brought them..especially him..Uff.. the sense of relief on his face!! Like he had been in pain for so very long and the pain has suddenly ceased. Disappeared.
We have different names for what they felt / feel towards each other. Love, desire, passion, tenderness, yearning, devotion, enchantment, adulation.. the list goes on. Here is another name for the same emotion - Imprint.
Imprinting on someone is like... Like when you see her... Everything changes. All of a sudden, it's not gravity holding you to the planet. It's her... Nothing else matters. You would do anything... be anything for her.
This is a dialogue from - Twilight Eclipse. Jacob says it to Bella, the female protagonist.
And each meeting of Sahir and Arzoo has been like this. They had been imprinting each other. It makes them behave very unlike themselves and do things that they know they shouldn't be doing. But once imprinted there was nothing either of them could do to erase it.
Thank you all for reading. Goodnight. And have a very happy weekend.
