One of the good things about this serial is that they don't stretch out the Anam/KA ploys much. By the end of Monday's episode we had Alvira come and save the day and knock some sense into Sahir Gaabar Pyscho Chaudary leaving us to enjoy the rest of the week which focused on our leads and the fun supporting cast.
Highlights of the week:
1. Nausheen and Daadi
Loved the Nirupa Roy comment. These CVs really know how to laugh at themselves! :-)
2. Myra and Aarzoo
So Myra has shown herself to be a really smart cookie, picking up on Aarzoo's feelings for Sahir. I loved the quiz story line. Both actresses are great at comedy and it was all pulled off really well.
3. Zaki and Myra
Again, great scenes between these two this week as well. Loved Zaki's conclusion that of the two guys in the house she could only really have a crush on him. Note he didn't mention It can't be Sahir as he is married, rather, it can't be Sahir has he shouts at her all the time...
3. KA and Alvira
So an interesting convo between the two in terms of more information on the Sahir-Zeenat Story. So Zeenat has certainly done something to break his heart, potentially left him as he wasn't rich. May be they were on the verge of a divorce? Or maybe they are and just using the married name in hospital so he can visit. I certainly feel they were separated. Whatever it is, Alvira certainly feels totally justified in getting Sahir married to Aarzoo.
4. Zaki and Aarzoo
So Zaki bhai 'to gaya kaam se'. But he seems to have a crush on her rather than something a little more intense. But his scenes of pure infatuation are hilarious as he gets more and more convinced that Aarzoo shares his feelings. This guys heart is well and truly on his sleeve! :-)...loved the water pouring scene...no idea why Alvira didn't cotton on that her younger son has also fallen for the lady of Lucknow...
5. Aarzoo in love
Aarzoo has been hilarious this week. Excellent acting by Shivya (you go girl!). She saves the day with Mr Mehta and her gift is seeing a very happy Sahir Sir. Then Myra stokes the fires and gets her thinking about whether she is in love with Sahir. Her self talk has been great this week, starting with the bench scene when she is astonished at herself for even thinking about being in love and that too with 'Sahir Gabbar Pyscho Chaudary'. And then when it rains, she just goes into shock, not even reacting to Sahir himself when he comes by to find out what on earth she is doing. Then comes the next day and Aarzoo tells herself being a modern girl she needs to hide her feelings. She then proceeds to chicken out of serving Sahir coffee, too scared of letting the cat out of the bag. Then the office scene was excellently done with Aarzoo completely avoiding any eye contact with Sahir even if it meant turning herself around as he tried to speak to her. Little does she realise the havoc she is unintentionally causing in Sahir's heart!
6. Sahir
So apart from Monday we have seen a slightly more light hearted Sahir, much much more comfortable in Aarzoo's company. I would go as far as saying enjoying her company. We see this when they bump into each other and Aarzoo goes on to bump into him again with a straight faced explanation on how he would grow horns if they didn't. Aarzoo doesn't fail to amuse him and he holds back his laughter and goes on to ask her some straight faced questions on this phenomenon.
Then we had the coffee scene where he is actually flattered yet embarrassed (very aware of the eyes on both of them) by her overboard concern for him. He thinks back to this during the ishq wala love scene as well.
We also got a classic 'dip' scene. Once again, he comes to her softly and again is bemused by her antics.
Now we get to some serious stuff, the rain scene. The first time I saw it I was confused. We have seen Sahir being quite caring and protective towards Aarzoo so was surprised to see him back to his old self, feeling frustrated at the lack of control he had over himself when it came to Aarzoo. So my take on this scene is that he starts off getting out of the car, completely against his will to find out what Aarzoo is doing and get her out of the rain. He grabs her arm (and not her hand, showing he is being careful with his behaviour), they fall, again a very short gaze but he doesn't get all puppy eyed and gets up quickly. Then he gets the umbrella AND closes the car door. I think his intention was to walk back home with her. He brings the umbrella over and looks away. Aarzoo finally snaps out of it and sees his stone face and gets scared. How can she show her feelings to this man who changes his attitude towards her like the weather? So off she goes alone. Sahir is left startled and confused. He wasn't expecting this. Normally Aarzoo would have meekly come under the umbrella no matter how he was behaving. At this point we see the stone face drop and he is watching Aarzoo walk away with a yearning for her to turnaround and come back. But she doesn't.
The next morning we see an anxious Sahir waiting for Aarzoo to come. Once again, he is fully expecting her to come with his coffee but she doesn't. Sahir is feeling totally de-railed now. Then he impatiently waits for her arrival in the office. Once she gets there he calls her to his office and all she wants to do is leave. His frustrated 'nahin' to her when she asked to leave was hilarious as was the whole scene. He is so frustrated and annoyed with her. It gets worse as she continues to avoid his gaze even as he paces around her! It's obvious that this guy is addicted to her now and we see him having some serious withdrawal symptoms.
So obviously Sahir sir fails to focus on anything during the day and even spends time on thinking about what he did to deserve this. He concludes he needs to apologise and thank her (how conveninent Sahir Sir) and decides to go and look for her. This man isn't going to rest until they are back to 'normal'.
But the question is what is really normal? Their relationship behind closed doors is far from normal and both are in denial on this. Sahir is certainly in love, of course he realises it deep down but admitting it would mean ending whatever he feels and has with Aarzoo right now and he is not ready to do that. So better to live a lie than face the truth. Aarzoo on the other hand has realised. But I feel we may still be a long way off any open conversation between them. Aarzoo is obviously having a tough time coming to terms with how she feels and that does make sense for her character. Judging from the sbs segment we will have an interesting week. Would be good to see a scene with the same amount of chemistry as the jungle scene. The feelings between the two are getting strong enough to justify it.
One may wonder that with the jungle scene, hospital hug, Ashrafi scene, red dress scene, dip scene etc etc it's a little shocking that Aarzoo would have any doubt over how Sahir feels, let's face it, he hasn't been too great at hiding it, but I guess until someone openly says it, its hard to confirm. I do think her real issue right now isn't that though, it's more, how can she actually fall for someone when she vowed she never would , that too someone who doesn't always treat her well and why didn't she realise what was happening.
