Chapter Three.
Sahir waited until the office was completely empty before he decided to leave. He was not in any rush and anyway, he preferred the silence to the hustle and bustle of the office.
He began to make his way out of his office only to be greeted by the peon that was still working. The peon rushed up to him and blurted:
"Sahir Sir? You're still here? I thought you had gone" The peon had asked. Sahir turned to give him a look that indicated him to mind his own business and he looked down, embarassed. Sahir wasn't into any informatilities with anyone. He wasn't the kind of person that was used to being looked after, or even asked. Isolation was exactly what he wanted and isolation was exactly what he needed.
The peon quietly disappeared when he realised his mistake. Well, it's not a mistake showing care for someone. But in Sahir's eyes it was.
Sahir made his way out and got into the back of the car as the driver held the door open for him. He sat back and gestured the driver with a nod to leave.
Once the car had stopped outside his house, he waited until the driver opened his door before getting out and making his way inside, looking at his phone.
Just as he was about to make his way in, someone bumped into him. He looked up from his phone to see the girl losing her balance in front of him and without thinking he found himself offering his arms out for support as she was about to fall.
Once Sahir realised what he was doing, he immediately let the girl go and watched as she fell and yelped in pain. "Can you not watch where you're going??" He yelled
"What about you!?"
"Sahir was slightly taken aback. No one had dared raise their voice at him and here was this girl, as bold as brass. At this point Alvira came out, followed by another woman, most likely the girl's mother seeing as she had gone into panic mode, like something serious had happened.
"Aarzoo! Beta! Are you okay?"
"It's just a sprain" Sahir informed them. They were worrying over nothing.
"What do you mean it's just a sprain!? What are you? A doctor!?" she exclaimed "It's broken Ammi"
Sahir rolled his eyes. She was so melodramatic. "Nousheen, this is Sahir" Alvira told her
"Assalamo Alaikum Beta" She smiled sweetly, despite worrying over her daughter. Sahir paused. Beta. It had been a long time since he had been addressed with such affection. He had almost forgotten what it sounded like.
"Sahir, this is my friend Nousheen and her daughter Aarzoo" Sahir watched as the girl continued to complain about her ankle.
"Let's take her inside Nouseen" Alvira suggested.
"Yes, let's" The emotional mother replied. They tried to help the girl up, but she screamed in pain. Sahir sighed in frustration as both the women tried to their best to help her up but couldn't.
Seeing his mother struggle, he stepped forward and lifted the girl in his arms, much to her protestation. But he simply ignored her and carried her inside.
"Just put her here beta" Nousheen told him and he did as he was told. He was about to walk off when his mother addressed him.
"Sahir?" She said and he turned to face him. "Aarzoo is joining Saiyaara" She told him, as a matter of fact.
"As you wish" He nodded before looking at the girl once more as she gave him an annoyed look before shaking his head and walking off.
Great. Another pain to deal with. As if he hadn't got enough going on already.
