so disturbing on soo many different levels.
my poor heart and soul.

i always always always wondered why south asian mothers get their sons married if they dont want him to lead his life and move forward.

its so disturbing

why is it bad if a husband wants to go out with his wife? i never understood until i watched this show.
so many family gathering i would overhear gossip of omg he went out with his wife ALONE on the weekends.
and i would be like ..ummm...

and it makes sense now.
i wasnt crazy. mothers do compete with thier daughter in laws for sons attention.

this show just proves i am not crazy.

everyone used to think i was crazy. they thought i was being harsh. they thought the wives were at fault for wanting to seperate son from family. they said good wife stays with family, not alone.

i am not crazy! and neither is sigmun freud!!!

i feel so liberated today.

😊 Well, I knew that ever since I was a little kid. Mu dadi always thought she should be the most important person in my dad's life. These mothers believe thier sons should only concentrate on them, because akhir unhone toh janam diya hai na. They wish their sons to look after them first and thier bahu is only a baby-making machine.

@TM: No youre not crazy, I agree with you!

The mothers who think that way are crazy and twisted and perverted. South Asian mothers shd get a job and be productive in society, then they would not be so clingy and obsessed with their sons.
They regard their sons as their property and also their meal ticket for life.
They dont want bahu to have any influence over their son, but just serve as maid servant and baby maker for whole life.

I wonder why they even get their sons married in the first place? For dowry or just to prove that the son has good market value? Or just to get an innocent girl at home to command and torture and humiliate for their own fun?

Oh yes, there are many crazy mothers but all mothers are not like that ! Nor are all daughters-in-law door-mats! But agree with you, this mother-in-law wants to vie with her daughter-in-law for attention and time and imagines proprietorial rights over him, she needs to be put in her place, actually needs a psychiatrist!

I agree with most people here... although not all Indian mothers are like Ammaji, a staggering majority of them are (in my own mind, I waffle between 90-95% 😆)

@TM I agree with you. Almost 90% of the MIL's are there which is shown in the show, Attention seekers. I really want the CV's to make a eye opening point to every MIL and for DIL not to become a Door mat but a sensible Wife and DIL

I would also say 95% of Indian MILs are like this!
I have 2 sisters of my own and a dozen or so cousin sisters and many female friends, only 1 or 2 of them have nice, normal sasumas. All other sasumas are slightly watered down versions of Ammaji.

All Unnees-Bees...most of them are either control freaks/ dictators or Queen of the house ordering bahu like maid servant and picking faults with everything bahu does.

Ive seen only one bad bahu so far, who is really rude, doesnt give a sh** abt what her saas or sasual wants, her husband is completely hen-pecked so she didnt have any resistance from that department.

Cause they want the waris to continue their family. That's why main reason for marriage. That's why after marriage all the girl hears is now give me a grandson. But here Amma is way crazier than all the MILs. Her obsession for her son on much higher level she wants to get rid of Sag's so she can get her son married to a girl of her choice Satya 🤢

You guys are telling that 90-95 % of MIL are the same, but MIL's also have MIL's and still continue to treat badly their DIL...How come they have not learned anything from their own experience and is that mean that one day DIL will be the same as her MIL 😕 Thank God I am not married 😆
