Trailer: Here

Based on the graphic novel written by Frank Miller pretaining to the Battle of Thermopylae, and the sacrifice by a Spartan king and 300 Spartans and 700 Thespian volunteers and other allies which formed a force of 5,200-6,000. The movie ignores the rest of the allies, however, and focuses on simply the Spartan warriors. It's still unclear if they even mention the other city-states or not. They were up against a Persian army which has been estimated to be anywhere from 800,00-2.5 million men (credible estimates).

I 'm actually rather excited about this movie, even with all the huge historical inaccuracies. However, historical accuracy doesn't seem to be the focal point of this movie.

Even though a few scenes are eerily reminiscent of Gladiator, it's surprisingly original. Every epic movie released since Gladiator took far too much from the movie and retained very little originality. On top of that, it's filmed entirely in front of a green screen, which adds a further mythological feel to the movie and reminds one of another great Frank Miller graphic novel brought to life. It encompasses the full spectrum of mythical creatures and over-dramatized scenes and plot, but still seems amazing nonetheless.

All in all, I'm most definitely out to watch this movie when it comes out.
