Guys, I reverse my earlier harsh judgment on him. Here is the lowdown. I was watching Nancy Grace today, and I found out the following.
Apparently when he was 13, his parents divorced and he left with his father while his mother and sister stayed in England. Then they had about an 8 year strained relationship with alot of distance but still a bit of contact now and again. Now the speculation when he went to the London premiere, he actually went and talked to them in a hotel room but something went haywire. The mother and sister did not press charges on assault that day. In fact they waited until the next morning until they got back to their local police station to report the so-called incident. If they were in imminent physical danger, then they would have reported this immediately. There is a significant danger between assault and battery. Now assault is physical and/or verbal abuse. Then it is kind of fishy that they wait until the day of his London premiere to report the incident. Isn't it? So the police question him in a police station for 4 hours and decide not to charge him with anything. Thus, he has only been accused of assault. Perhaps the estrangement led to some fighting when they met, but I think it should not have been reported. Note: Nancy Grace was a former prosecutor, who usually is very tough on people accused, but she smelled something fishy here. But the panel she had on with the prosecutor, defense lawyer, entertainment journalists, etc. also sided with Christian Bale as they saw this as a domestic squabble that probably went wrong but just in probably verbal sense. Because if something physical happened, there would be photos by now. At this point, Christian Bale has only been accused, and it seems that there seem to be some suspicious sour grapes at play here. (In other words, this is a guy, who is a very quiet guy and has never had a criminal history at all so I wouldn't go believing the worst about him.)
