Christian Bale on Tuesday denied allegations of assault made by his mother and sister, hours after the star of "The Dark Knight" was arrested, questioned by London police and released.

The 34-year-old actor spent four hours at a police station, but was not charged and was released on bail. British media reported that Bale's mother and sister complained he had assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of "The Dark Knight."

I know, seriously. His dad was married to Gloria Steinem for goodness sakes. You would have thought he would have instilled values to respect women.

Guys, I reverse my earlier harsh judgment on him. Here is the lowdown. I was watching Nancy Grace today, and I found out the following.

Apparently when he was 13, his parents divorced and he left with his father while his mother and sister stayed in England. Then they had about an 8 year strained relationship with alot of distance but still a bit of contact now and again. Now the speculation when he went to the London premiere, he actually went and talked to them in a hotel room but something went haywire. The mother and sister did not press charges on assault that day. In fact they waited until the next morning until they got back to their local police station to report the so-called incident. If they were in imminent physical danger, then they would have reported this immediately. There is a significant danger between assault and battery. Now assault is physical and/or verbal abuse. Then it is kind of fishy that they wait until the day of his London premiere to report the incident. Isn't it? So the police question him in a police station for 4 hours and decide not to charge him with anything. Thus, he has only been accused of assault. Perhaps the estrangement led to some fighting when they met, but I think it should not have been reported. Note: Nancy Grace was a former prosecutor, who usually is very tough on people accused, but she smelled something fishy here. But the panel she had on with the prosecutor, defense lawyer, entertainment journalists, etc. also sided with Christian Bale as they saw this as a domestic squabble that probably went wrong but just in probably verbal sense. Because if something physical happened, there would be photos by now. At this point, Christian Bale has only been accused, and it seems that there seem to be some suspicious sour grapes at play here. (In other words, this is a guy, who is a very quiet guy and has never had a criminal history at all so I wouldn't go believing the worst about him.)

Well there are rumors out there that both mother and daughter are druggies. So, gosh knows what happened. As for people jumping on him physical assaulting them, in England even verbal abuse is characterized as assault. But then again they let him go. I don't think he did anything wrong. He has never been in trouble before and the mother-daughter duo come across as fishy to me.

^^ Very true.
Obviously we don't know the truth but his mother and sister do appear to be....slightly odd. And when people are famous, sadly at times even your loved ones can turn against you.
