After an extended break of 13 years, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who has acted in films like, Bhrashtachar and Kishen Kanhaiya, across 1980s and 1990s - is ready to bounce back, via the small screen route. She is following the footsteps of many film actress who paved their way into stardom through TV after years of acting on Big screen.

Shilpa will be seen on Zee TV's upcoming show Ek Mutthi Aasmaan. She will don the role of a Mumbai domestic worker in the show. Her first pictures from the show look really promising where she is wearing a Maharashtrian maid's look.

Shilpa believes that the concept of the show really excited her and she thinks this is her chance to start a new journey and connect with a new set of audience.

"It would be stupid if I say that I should start from where I left. I have changed and evolved. I have to make a new beginning and this show is a fresh start for me," Shirodkar told in an interview.

It is a story of a domestic worker and her struggle. "The TV show deals with the troubles and tribulations that domestic workers go through. Also, through the show, we want to change the mindset of people and tell them that domestic workers are also human beings and they deserve respect and love," she added.

Shirodkar started her journey in Bollywood with 1989 film Bhrashtachar before starring in '90s hits like Kishen Kanhaiya, Hum and Gopi Kishan. She left Bollywood in 2000 after marrying merchant banker Apresh Ranjit. Shilpa then gave birth to a baby girl Anushka. She was busy playing the role of a mother in real life hence did not miss Stardom. Now, her daughter is grown up and she is back in Mumbai to try her luck again in acting.

"I got married in 2000. My husband and I settled in London. I used to do everything – from cleaning, cooking, ironing, getting petrol filled in the car to washing. But now I have a maid who takes care of things."

In this show which is produced by DJ's A Creative Unit , there is another very talented actor who is coming back into action. The dynamic DK in Zee TV's popular show, Tumhari Disha aka Ashish Nayyar will be seen playing the role of a rich man in whose house Shilpa works as Kamla Bai.

Another actress Tuhina Vohra will also step into acting shoes after a long gap. She will play Ashish's wife in the show. Not only this, we have the name of the main lead actor opposite Shilpa, it is Mohit Dugga who has bagged the role of Kamla's husband. He is too young as compared to his wife, Kamla. Their everyday fights and sturggle will form the basic storyline. These two families will present interesting situations with loads of twists and turns to keep viewers engaged.
