Double roles seem to be the flavour of the season on the small screen, with every other serial having actors playing lookalikes, reports Chaya Unnikrishnan
Hitler Didi

Rati Pandey as Indira and Zara
Rati Pandey is one of the few actors to have got an opportunity to play a double role not once but twice in the serial. What's more, one of them, Indra is positive while the other, Zara is negative. Says Rati, "It's fun to switch into two different roles. It's a good break from playing the same old character for the past one year and that too on a daily basis." Along with challenging her skill and calibre, she admits that it also means trying her patience. "Initially, I had to change my get-ups twice or thrice a day which used to consume lot of time and the whole team would get exhausted including me. It does give a kick to an actor initially but repetition of anything becomes boring later," she warns. .
Hitler Didi
Rituraj Singh as Inder and Tauji
To give a boost to the proceedings in Hitler Didi, the makers introduced a whole new family in the serial and Rituraj Singh who is playing Inder had a lookalike in Tauji. While both the characters are interested in showing off their wealth there is one major difference. Inder has always been a selfish slime bag but Tauji is a noble man. Says Rituraj, "It really feels good doing a double role. It lets you experiment with technique, look, voice, body and gestures." Even the get-ups are different. While Tauji has facial hair to scare, Inder is simple in appearance. "It does not take time to get ready, but a lot of effort," says the actor, who remembers playing a double role in his very first serial Bandhan where he essayed a hero and a villain.
