Heema di! I have a sad news for you. A mentally challenged girl who was my neighbour when I was in India was married off because the doctor told them so. its been like 15 years since the incident but I didn't know about it because I was a kid. My mom told me tonight while I was chatting with her.

Good morning, Heema...wonderful start to your day, no?

@bold: I would think this is inaccurate. Whatever else he is capable of, he is not capable of this. Yes, he is capable of violence to the extent of slapping and pushing. But not rape. And if the CVs dare to show this, I am in favour of going and pulling down their office. That will save us from future shows of this idiotic production house. Na rahega baans, na bajegi bansuri. 😃

Chalo...now we have real-life examples to support this banal show. Sorry, I know this is addressed to Heema, but I could not prevent a reaction.

Was this a good doc or a quack? And do you know how and where the girl is? I have loads of questions, but will limit it to two.

Walden said the same thing...that 'low' in HD has no limit. This is a bottomless pit.

I haven't seen the segment, but I am not surprised either. The past few epis have been outdoing each other in atyachar. My detachment is helping me look at this clinically. Goddamn the writers!

I know, I was like really!
I have no idea about the doctor but let me assure you that 15 years ago my native place kanpur did not have good psychiatrists around... But I would like to confirm that again with my mom.

And girl wad married off and she even has a daughter. On my visit to India this time I met her sister but I had no idea about all this otherwise I would have asked her how her sister managed a married life.

kanan, I remember her sceam and running away from home. She was worse than Indira.

@bold: This is true anywhere in India even today. There is a dearth of good psychiatrists and its really scary when people take advice from people who are perhaps not even qualified.

I can go on and on about this. There is this perception that marriage and the responsibility that comes with it is the cure for every mental ailment. God knows where this perception comes from!

may be it works with depression and frustration but she was really not in senses. She would run away from home and would take off her clothes...

And the doctor, forget doctor , I don't expect it from any educated guy in the society. Its strange that they don't findit sexual harassment.

I have so many questions that I wool call my mom again. I really want to know about the future of such marriages.

Saumya , this happens in India more than we know. Old doctors are not required to continue education they say what ever they believe and vonurable parents follow sad advise !! I have also heard ths from others that they have known cases like this . Very SAD ' Indis really need to use TV to educate people but they continue to provide wrong information !!
