This is profound and so on the spot!
You hit the nail on the head. I feel that this is exactly what happened vis-a-vis her relationship with Rishi. she never took the time to understand her feelings, understand him, and most importantly what she was to him and what he was to her.
First rush to confession soon after realization was understandable. This was a woman who had never felt love. Now she was feeling it, she had to tell it.
But what followed subsequently was not. When she discovered his identity, he was immediately put in the "hate" basket without any meaningful whys/wherefores discussion after the emotions had cooled off. He remained in the "hate" basket even when she was being led in handcuffs. But as soon as he got her out of the jail, something happened and he was immediately put in the "love of life" basket, with all sorts of verbal promises. But then Vidith tragedy came out in the open. He immediately (and justifiably) went into the "hate" basket again. But there was no introspection, no need to discover why, how, when etc. She did not have one conversation with Rishi to find out what happened and why he hid it from her. He was in the "hate" basket and that was it. When she discovered the "poison drugs" thing, Rishi immediately went back into the "love" basket.
This behavior shows she is being led by circumstances, events. Today, if the event puts Rishi in a good light, she will love him, and tomorrow if something puts him in a bad light, he will again be in the dog house.
I am not saying Indira is not justified in her actions so far.
But time has come for her to stop rushing to conclusions. She needs to come to terms with who Rishi is, what he brings to the table for her. If she likes what she sees, then she should give all her love, her loyalty and faith to him. Truly put her "azma ke ekho..." to the test.
Otherwise all the promises made to each other or in front of others (like Vidya Balan) are just empty words
