As I was coming home today, and thought of what I would do today on my Friday night with nothing interesting to do on the horizon, I questioned why I am not so impressed with Indira's unconventional behaviour on the screen but all the same HD show is interesting to me.

Then I thought of Ila Bedi and I praised her, she definitely is trying something creatively different, She is using the genre Comedy of Manners for her show which she calls it as unconventional. True definitely she stands out (unlike the Sony SAB TV comedy shows) from the rest of romantic comedies and melodramas on the leading TV channels.

And that made me think about Indira and how she proposed/confessed her love to Rishi and how Rishi responded with tears. And like a flash I remembered Henry Fielding 😆
That was my BA Eng Litt first year author and I had to read his Joseph Andrews, which I must say in that 18th year of my life felt as a punishment to read. 😆 If anyone is an English Litt student, he or she may understand what I am trying to say. For those who do not know, Henry Fielding was a satirist and he was intolerant of Samuel Richardson's success from his novellas (the novel was not yet an art form then) based on woman's stories. The meek but yet virtuous woman standing upto the evil man and society with its evil intentions. So when Pamela by Samuel Richardson became a success, Henry Fielding wrote a parody Joseph Andrews with him as Pamela's rustic brother. Here the parody was that this man becomes the hunted and has to shield his virtue from being all raped by the scheming women around him 😆
And if that was not enough, Samuel when he wrote Clarissa or The History of a Young woman, Henry answered him with Tom Jones or The History of Tom Jones the Foundling. While Clarissa was the aristrocrat fighting for her virtue, Tom Jones is the bas***d but with a golden heart.

Those were comedy of manners of those times and wish I had been exposed at this old age and not when I was still a girl who went all dove eyed at victorian novels when the Hero proposed to heroine and when she accepted the proposal, off he went to meet his lady's parents to ask for her hand in marriage.

Now isn't all this coming as a nice juxtaposition when I see Indira aka hitler didi proposing the meek Rishi Kirayedaar and wanting to meet his parents like those victorian heroes. Alas ! we know, ye story ki ending nahin, ye to story ki shuruaat hai, Aur aage dekhiye dunia bhar ke parody 😆

Shri, what an anecdote with HD as the center of attraction! 👏
Hats off to your beautiful note on unconventionality of HD. Ms. Bedi ka toh pataa nahi but this show is definitely bringing out some well-written thoughts on this forum.
Thank you to team of HD for creating such a magic!

she[ila bedi] is also showing-- hero making all sacrifices and trying to win khadoos heroin.in this show hero always misunderstood and only proved right in the end.
------
where as all other shows -female leads are sacrificing and trying to win khadoos hero.and heroin all ways misunderstood and proved right in end only.and hero says sorry and accepts heroin.

so this serial is unconventional only.😆

unconventional for tv
my gut feeling has been that if in real life, we count number of dharthi pe bhoj bahus(rinky thats nice) and hitlers , we would find more hitlers

buut yes i read henry fielding with thoughts similar to yours not much changed now though- i still swoon over swooning victorian heroines and their heroes😃

😆
well! She makes a parody out of everyone in one or the other way. Its funny when we are able to draw a parallel for those same characters (father, mother, elder brother, bhabhi, younger sister etc) from other shows on TV where they behave totally different.

Raj that was 🤣

Will I did not think that yet, I was just thinking how Rishi kirayedaar like a achchi bahu always is at home and takes care of Indira's family members. And when his Makaan malking ji comes, he gives a report or says, "aap chinta mat kijije, main sab sambhaal loonga" 😆

True, in everyone of us there is to some extent that presence of Hiterpana, the much needed one to juggle on with daily tasks today.

And in fact Ila was saying the same. She said she was one and there would be so many who would agree with her for showing those traits. the only difference being we smile, our HD doesn't smile.

Seriously I came away far from my young woman days, waiting for Prince Charming, but that day when I see Rishi crying, it was the heights of the mockery that he made at my girlish imagination. I mean I could see it in flash, all my years of reality checks and how they upset me as I was coming down from my so called romantic or any kind of idealism. What we see around is reality, but we generally take it as insipid reality. And same thing when we are shown from a different platform, we tend to change our mental perspective. And time and again this realization, acceptance and new thoughts is necessary to cope up with our changing lives. Its always good to have a critique on what we are doing in our daily grind.
Kuch nahin khaas to mocking hi sahi, kuch to creative aaya bahar !!!!😊 Even that is an art. And satire is sometimes the best way to correct our aberrations.

you know its funny that sometimes for me it feels like both the idealistic/romantic world coexist with the realistic one. ur ex of rishi crying- it seemed both to me- like it was so unexpected and hence not romantic to see the hero crying -it was real though. but at the same time it seemed ideal as the hero was crying for the heroine which made it ...not romantic but still lovable.

Shri, today was indeed an unconventional episode where the hero is shown to be highly sensitive and sentimental. I have never seen such subtle display of emotions by a male lead.
