great post Nels...i have been watching this show not for indira but for Rishi as from day 1 i have felt that Rishi is different with different people. what u see need not always be true as far as rishi is concerned. he may seem shallow in one instant but the very next moment he exhibits a depth of thought which no one could have imagined. thats what makes him special for me.

i guess Rishi accepted to play this 'game' becoz he knows sameer could divulge all his secrets to indira very easily. hence to keep Sameer at bay he is playing along & allowing Sameer to think of this all as a game. he already knows that indira will be angry when she comes to know of this [but from experience he must have learnt by now thats her standard reaction to anything he does!] but more important than indira right now is the reason why he came to Sharma Nivas. this guy has his priorities set out straight,,,which is another quality i admire in him. to qoute rishi: aisa nahi hai ke main jazbaat nahi samazta...but sometimes such situations arise in life where u have to give precedence to certain practicalities & keep your emotions aside. thats what rishi is pretending to play at the moment. as we well know he is the master of pretenses.

me too loved the contrast Sumeet brought out in Ricky & Rishi. and the hurt that his eyes showed when indira was OK with his leaving the house [in the precap] moved me. i really hated indira in that instant & felt sorry for rishi

Nels, Excellant post! 👏 I logged in an hour back. watched the shows. And here I am, searched for your post 😊 Nice to know something on convergence theory..

And very good analysis by everyone contributing into the discussion. Do not have anything further to say.

Agree most of all, that we got to know Rishi's vulnerable side and Nel's theory explains a lot about his behaviour. And here I can go blunt, based on the same theory; and say that kya kare Ricky/Rishi Bhai Kalakaar jo hain. Yes, being an artist that he is, he is more into impressions and expressions and definitely rationale doesn't fit in anywhere. Hope you all agree that artists have very heightened level of sensitivity.

And really I felt the pain when Rishi was putting up the act of carefree boy before his brother, trying to impress himself and his brother that he can also play game. You know sometimes, somewhere deep down in psyche a person who does not feel sufficiently loved and recognized, he puts up the exact opposite rebellious act that he doesn't need love and recognition.

And as this act starts bringing him attention, the person indulges increasingly in such acts and he starts being master for the game. But when the subject's competition, fpr ex: other confident persons around him who are successful, change their path and start doing different things, inadvertently the subject also changes his path, because he cannot stop being a follower.

Must say that it was an excellent episode today. It was pure quality, worth in every way. The entire episode held my attention in such a gripping manner, that I did not even notice those aage dekhiye breaks which drive me nuts daily.

iolhardy, even I started watching the show just because of Rishi. This is just going to be about Rishi.

Nels, I am sorry, I am diverging from your subject. Hope you will forgive me. I feel this is the right forum here and I should express.

i think most of gathered here towards discussing this post, i think we all watch HD because of Rishi rather than Indira.

Indira is not that interesting to me without Rishi. I love the various shades that are exposed to us; through the efforts of Rishi; from all the other characters. Its not just Indira, but all the other family members and infact anyone who interacts with Rishi. It is not just the normal response. It is the endearing qualities from everyone that he lets us have a peep into.

And coming to posts. Reali nice ones come out in the night. 😆

from evening on I feel like the liberals coming out and making their posts. And I love to read them on.

When everyone almost especially the early bird posts from our conservative party in the morning, feel Rishi ne kya kar diya aaj (including his shirtless act), I feel God! why doesn't anyone see it from Rishi's eyes. See If I try to see from his point, I feel for Rishi like this...

Yaar mera kamra hai, main kuch bhi karoon !. Didn't we see our brothers without shirts, I mean yaar grow up.

Bas Indira ko Shaadi ki padi hai.

Woh to shaadi ko ek "apne responsibilities transfer to husband" ka ghol soch ke peena chahtee hain.

Phaltoo mein Rishi ko problem me daal diya, making all my calculations go wrong. mera plan abhi poora hua nahi, yeh shaadi ki aafat aa gayi. I am trying to save something for myself, lekin Sameer ne taang ada diya!! Ab kis kis mod ko sambhaale bechaara Rishi!!

neways, i agree with you completely..sumit has different shades to his character..when he is in sharma nivas he is a middle class guy, when out of sharma nivas, he is a sophisticated person..when it comes to love, he is obssessive..

n he is in a situation where he has to take things calmly n lightly otherwise he wouldn't be able to survive..

initially every1 had a doubt ragarding sumit's acting but his character is really very complex not a straight forward one..he has to portray lots of shades at a time..

sumit is doing a fabulous job..👏loving him more n more by each passing day..😊

why dont all rishi lovers demand for some other girl who truely deserves rishi😃

I m watching this show because of indira and found this character rishi highly stupid and irritaing,if this continues i may loose my interest in this show further😆

Sorry I made my comments about Rishi here and thereby diluting the subject. And I sincerly do not want to offend you who love Indira. Wish I had the delete button and I could have deleted mine. Discussion was around complexities within a character.

I entreat you not to take this post into Rishi/no rishi war. Others will join.. This post was about Nels observation on a character and applying certain theories to analyse. It is okay to disagree with the post through some validatory arguments just for courtesy's sake, but please be do not be totally dismissive of the subject.
