Dear All,

Today I realized one thing.

Why do we all like INSHI so much and yet there is the insecurity that they might not happen at all, the constant gnawing apprehension that Rishi should not come out bad at the end of each twist exposite...and so on...

I started watching the show because I happened to see Hitler Didi promos on youtube and then Rishi's character appealed to me with his seemingly silly and fun-filled face. And as I saw the first week episodes, I liked Indira -Rishi jodi as it naturally appeals to us on the opposites attract principle.

Now as I get three months old with this show, now InShi has little started giving me pain in emotional sense and am no longer laughing at the comic situations between the two. And forget romance. Love and emotional bonding just does not happen without any expressions to be seen on the face.

As I started thinking...I realized that what bothers me most is INDIRA DOES NOT SMILE.

I really do not feel like being with persons who cannot smile. It makes me nervous, wary, on defensive mode. I would be overwhelemed by the fact that I need to be careful in not hurting that person and would still wonder, how will I know what is going to be displeasing to that person, if he doesn't provide me any hint. After all smile is a way to know a person..

As I feel this, I really wonder at Rishi's capacity to be determined to be close to Indira and continue with his efforts on bringing on the smile on her face.

While I actually accepted the story/concept during the show's launch, that someone will come to bring the smile back, I now know that I accepted that with my head, I enjoyed the jokes, camaraderie between all characters, but now I am actually feeling within my heart on this saturday morning; how undaunting task it is for Rishi to go on with his efforts with a girl who seems rational and understanding, but does not smile back. Psychologically challenging. How much Rishi must be calling his inner resources to continue with his shameless or arrogant display of fun factor on his face. It almost seems to me that he is mastering fear-factor.

Kudos to the creatives to make it a comic show and yet if we want to look at subtleties at sublime level, we see all the ISSUES there.
Likewise, the actors are really good playing their part. It must be really hard for Rati to keep up stern exterior, act abnormal in every normal situation, inorder to play out Indira and it must be equally hard for Sumit to be inscrutable guy who is there for a reason, keep up his fun character, his jokes and his wit at only that level where he will not get slapped by Indira but will also border on being an audacious, stupid and callous person to appall everyone...
And all the other characters like our Sejal Shah (playing Kutumb), they are at best bringing out the ridiculous elements and which force us to think about them, makes us to repel those characteristic traits.

Wish Indira smiled at all these things even if it was a sarcastic smile. It really shows how INNOCENT and STRAIGHT GIRL she is still. She really needs to be taken care of...I say this because I was able to see her through Rishi's eyes..else with Indira surrounded by her hyena family, she just seems a self-sufficient person who can take care of herself.
She is yet to learn the power of smile. Its not just a response to happiness, it sometimes is the way to live life when the option to die is not yet available to us; as in no ray of hope.

And lastly, 👏 to Gavie-Prabhleen who in her (I think it She!) InShi FF had so sensitively taken us close to the "purpose of Rishi's visit" in her chapters 1 & 2

Awaiting her next chapters and hope she takes me into Indira's mind and heart as well..

Well said Shridevi! Infact I was drawn to this show by the promos of the epi and this weird but amazingly adorable character of Rishi. For the first time I had to start with episode-1 to really enjoy the character. So you can understand the high caliber of performance. Also I completely agree with your thoughts on Indira and Rishi.
And ofcourse kudos to Rati and Sumit for bring out such amazing characters. Whole team is doing a great job!

Shridevigaddam and Nels, I agree with both of you on most of this...
The fact that Indira doesn't smile is definitely a big hurdle for anyone who wants her to be happy...She just doesn't let a smile come to her face easily at all! I marvel at Rishi's perseverance. Despite these walls that Indira has built up around her, Rishi has succeeded in eliciting responses from Indira that no one else probably has, as we can see in many moments...There are too many to list, but a few that really stood out to me were: the expressions on her face when he wished her Happy Birthday, the entire hospital portion, and definitely the candle scene.
I've also liked the fact that she seems to instinctively turn to him at times...The bit where they're standing in front of the hotel in Macau and she slowly turns to look at him with the most painfully helpless expression on her face broke my heart, but I noticed that she instinctively gravitated toward him...Then again after the confrontation about his slip-of-tongue regarding the abortion issue, she starts walking away in frustration but suddenly stops and turns back - and the interesting thing is, whenever she realizes their physical proximity, it unnerves her a little and she moves away. I think it's the same case with Rishi. He knows that she gets uncomfortable about these sorts of things and is trying to maintain his distance, but both are rather powerless to resist that force that keeps pulling them toward each other again and again.
I could probably write an essay about the candle scene, I love it that much. The fact that both Rishi and Indira apologized to each other was significant: Rishi's genuine apology to Indira about Vidit Bhaiyya was very sweet, and I doubt Indira expected something like that from Rishi. Indira's reaction to that was cute...struggling awkwardly to bring that phrase to her lips, unsure how to go about doing that...And Rishi was quite taken aback, haha! Her defenses are slowly crumbling...Very slowly...Another little touch I loved about this scene was the way Indira kept bringing the candle closer to Rishi and moving to look over his shoulder...and as usual, she would move away for a little bit...until she realized that he'd need the candlelight again.
One of Rati's strengths is that she conveys all of Indira's emotions through her body language. For a character like Indira, who doesn't allow herself to smile, bringing out a sense of vulnerability while appearing stern is probably very difficult. I've noticed that what attracted me most to this show was Indira's vulnerability in spite of all her strengths, as well as her evolving relationship with Rishi. Rati brings out so much emotion simply through her eyes - in the candle scene, there were so many feelings conveyed within seconds - and that helps indicate how complex a character Indira Sharma is. She's not unidimensional in any respect. I doubt Rishi is unidimensional also...His motives are an endless source of anticipation for me, but that aside, he has been shown to largely be a cheerful ray of sunshine in Indira's gloomy life, but he is just as sensitive, even if he doesn't show it most of the time. He cares, he wants her to smile at little things that are not worth stressing about, he wants her to live in every moment...

What an analysis madamji! 👏
I think we can go on and on writing about these two characters and actors 😛. Now I just pray and hope that their efforts receive due appreciation and loads of success.

PaNa4ever,

love you for continuing where I left it off !! thanks. You have expressed it very beautifully. Nicely put.

Very true and yes that's what it is. Yes, we are getting to see these moments of some kind of cognition to Indira though it may seem an aberration to her. And as long Indira feels it an aberration, Rishi cannot show his sensitive side.

As I read our daily posts on the forum, feel that; we the Inshi fans should be more sympathetic to their slow efforts in bonding to each other and wish we the fans do not get swayed by the SBB, SBS peeps, the actors making fun of their characters, the incessant twists to keep us engaged and at the same time to act as catalysts for InShi to have a reason to interact more in an otherwise impossible relationship. Its a unique kind of pair here, seems there is nothing and yet people around Indira notice the change in her. There is that Jhumpa of course for her ulterior motives noticing this, then Munna just for the sake of bashing his sister otherwise hardly thinking anyone can be actually interested in his sister; similar case with Kutumb; but the most observant of all is our Radhe, who feels the spark. So yes this pair cannot behave like our regular pairs on-screen but need to have those physical moments (sorry if I offended anyone on decency level, but obviously we cannot deny those intimacy levels which induce some sparks) and actually the underlying growth on each other through understanding and caring about the other even if it is unsaid. And yes, we do see that between both Indira and Rishi. We need to give them space and let them grow into each other gradually rather than daily feeling oh! we miss InShi today. It will only make the creative give more ridiculous twists and turns.😆

while we all seem to hang onto Vidit mystery to give an opening into Indira, but in reality that's not the case. Problem is that regardless of Vidit or Inder, Indira should not have stopped with her life between the two extreme understanding and hold that those two men have on her heart. She cannot get all that stamped in her psyche with the hate and love reserved only for these two men. Her transformation to a different Indira should happen and this has to be addressed sensitively by the writers. Like most of all felt when Rishi wearing Ishaan's glasses would have made anyone laugh out, Indira must have felt something too. But she didn't show any notice of it, and that Rishi did not feel disappointed shows us how far Indira is from the horizon onto the new world and how Rishi is unswerving...

I really wonder, when she will smile a little and whenever is that going to be, how will we all feel and most of all Rishi. Will we be dumb-struck or is it going to something else ?

regards.

@shridevigaddam:
Just to make a note about Radhe. I don't think he is seeing any spark between Rishi and Indira. He is just following the gossip going around. In this matter, if any one understands InShi relationship, then it has to be neighboring Amma. That's why she made Rishi realize his mistake which infact increased his dilemma/guilt.
And as far as smiling Indira is concerned, it will take a while. Her emotions are still controlled by her sense of responsibilities. That's why when Rishi says that she will be contacted by serious guys in response to her profile, her reply is seriousness is equivalent to sense of responsibility and not care-free nature. Basically she looks upon this responsibility as a duty entrusted to her by her brother Vidhit and unless he is back she has to carry it on. I am not saying that she is doing any favor or is not dedicated, but definitely she is not enjoying it. That's why in her monologue with Vidhit she says that now she is tired of regular taunts/hurts caused by her family. Day she will accept it wholeheartedly, not as a duty but part of her life she will be relieved of the burden she feels. That's what Rishi is trying to show her. Accept the situation but in the process don't close doors on your emotions. She has to learn the art of balancing her frustration and emotions and so far Rishi is helping her with it. That's why most of the time he ends up using his own methods to resolve the issues. Though they backfire, but this has shown his sensibility to Indira. So unknowingly she ends up looking up to him for help. He definitely understands her situations and emotions, but as a very good friend. But his hidden identity holds him back at times to respond her appropriately. In the process, he has also started nurturing feelings for her which he still has to realize.

Nels,

Nice. thanks for reminding me about Amma. How could I have forgotten her!!
True. As you say it (the bolded portion below), very true. That balance is what it will all make it all healthy for her.
