I have a hunch that Vidit died and somehow Rishi was unintentionally involved. It may be like the film Tum Bin, where Priyanshu's character caused an accident and Sandali's fiance was killed. Then Priyanshu tried to make amends for it by helping the dead man's family and, in the process, fell in love with Sandali.
