Griphook took Harry to his vault first time.

Helped him to break in Gringotts.

one who betrayed him

He double crossed the trio and ran away with sword while shouting 'Thieves! Thieves!'

and one whom he 'saw' dying

Just after running away on dragon, Harry got the vision where Voldemort ask Griphook what They took away and in fury, Voldemort Killed him.

After lots of thinking, Griphook finally struck my head...actually the hint "it can cause wars" helped a lot...and then I see all the clues pointing towards him only, I should have guessed it long before...No doubt its a great riddle...
