Well, I respect your opinion and if that's how you feel, that's fine, but personally I think it would have been cliche if Harry had died. He already lost so many loved ones. There was no need for him to die. The only time a protagonist should die in stories is if the plot requires it, otherwise it ruins the storyline.

Anyway, Harry Potter is not a romance story, that is true, but for the characters to end up with each other is natural. There doesn't have to be an elaborate romance story for characters to get married. Ron and Hermione complement each other in ways that Harry and Hermione never could. Harry and Hermione would bore each other to death. I do not love or hate Ginny. I may not be a huge fan of Harry-Ginny, but I can accept their relationship. Ginny did help a lot in the fight against Voldemort. She stands up to Harry when he tells her not to fight. She has a voice of her own, whereas Harry and Hermione never really argue. As for Luna, she and Harry don't really click for me. I like them better as friends, and Cho is just random, lol. She's in no way important to the storyline.

Harry Potter may not be a romance story, but that doesn't mean Harry has to die. JKR made him end up with whom she wanted at the time, and whether we like it or not, we at least have to respect her choice as she's the writer and the characters belong to her.

I will just say- HP was not a LOVE story.
Who ends up with doesn't really matter(atleast for me) in HP

^^ as a whole movie i would not have bothered too...like i said i judged only the romance part..coz the fantasy/thriller part is too good that it needs no judging i felt...and the author HERSELF wished to change the "end game" so i thought to express my POV

It's natural for an author to wish she had written her story another way, after the whole story is done. As a writer myself (though not a professional one, lol), I can relate with that, but at the moment when Deathly Hallows was being written, JKR wrote what she wanted, and even she cannot change that since the book has already been published and millions of fans have become attached with what she wrote. We all have our own opinions, we all have our favorite pairings, what does it matter?

Technically yeah, she does have the right to write anything she wants, and re-publish Deathly Hallows too, but you know as well as I do that the general public would not accept it, not just because of the whole Harry-Hermione-Ron triangle, but because it's been years since the book came out, and people have come to accept the story as it's been written. If a new Deathly Hallows came out, it would not seem like a part of the story, and fans would have a hard time accepting it.

Besides, the story is not about romance so it doesn't really matter who ends up with whom. The whole story revolved around Harry's battle with Voldemort, and if Harry died, it should make sense with the storyline. He shouldn't die just because some fans don't like Harry-Ginny. These days, it has become too much a habit among authors to kill off their main characters, and often it ruins the storyline because the death makes no sense. IMO, Harry dying would have ruined the storyline for me.

Hermione fans like her with many people. 😆 Harry-Hermione and Hermione-Draco have quite a large number of fans, but I would say the canon Ron-Hermione makes up a greater part of the fanbase. I can come up with a number of reasons why they are the perfect couple, but I won't because that's just my opinion. Ron-Hermione were decided by JKR since the beginning. If you remember, Ron feels jealous of Viktor Krum in the 4th book when Hermione goes with him to the Yule Ball, and Hermione feels positively murderous when Ron and Lavender Brown begin dating in the 6th book. Ron and Hermione always had this attraction that they tried to deny but never could. On the other hand, Hermione and Harry never had any romantic interaction, neither in their behavior or their description of each other's physical appearance. JKR wrote them as a brother-sister from the start, so even if she did change her mind about their relationship later on, she couldn't get them together because she had never developed their relationship like she did Ron and Hermione's. Besides, JKR never said even now that she suddenly hates their relationship. She probably thought of ways she could have made Harry-Hermione a potential couple too. Anyway, it's too late now and IMO, JKR should be careful what she says in public because it could affect her popularity with the fanbase, as most of the fans are satisfied with the series as it is.

@..RamKiJanaki.., actually , if you read her interview, she never says she wanted to put Hermione with Harry. She wrote that Ron and Hermione might have had issues in their marriage later on, and that it would have probably been ironed out by counselling. Also, that Hermione is attracted to Ron's sense of humour, just like her creator. (Yes, she did say that.) So you can't say she regrets writing that, really, you know? Even Emma said recently that the interview was taken out of context and blown out of proportion- not her her exact words, but something similar. :)

^^ To be honest, I did not really read her interview fully, but people told me she was "regretting" Ron-Hermione or something. Anyway, I think it makes perfect sense that they'd have issues in their marriage, as they fought throughout the 7 books too. That's what makes their relationship interesting.

Well, I did read the entire thing. As you said, that's what makes Ron and Hermione so very intriguing :)
But then, saying she "regrets" them sounds like a much more sensational story, so we have your Rita Skeeters writing much more as headlines in the papers :P

#2nd para - i read in newspaper (years ago) that she was going to kill harry in the final battle...but changed it due to fans demand

#3rd para - JKR said she didnt put hermione - ron because they were perfect or credible couple...she put them together for her "personal reasons"...everyone is satisfied what she wrote...so am i...i was just talking about the pairing and those who are satisfied as u said its not a love story so they should not bother what she says about the "end game" now..but now she should not change anything and publish it will look dumb and stupid
