Question about Dumbledore and Snape

Hi all

This is a question that just popped up in my mind.....here it is:

Dumbledore confirmed to Harry that he too was an accomplished Legilimens. If he was, then how come he was unable to read Snape's thoughts?

If he did, then he would have an open gateway into Snape's mind regarding Voldemort, his hatred for Harry, etc.

But then again, maybe it was cos Snape was also a good Occlumens and closed himself off whenever he was around other Legilimens. But that would have been a tough order consdering the fact that he constantly had to close his mind down whenever need arose.

What do you guys think about my question?

well, isnt tht just the thing...
dumbledore could read snapes mind, thts y he knew snape wudnt betray him....
the whole dumbledores death thingy was not real...

and if thts not it, then maybe snapes was damn good at keeping his mind shut 24/7

ya the question is good nishani... i kinda agree with sushmi... dumbledore did trust snape tht's y he lethim be a professor in hogwarts even after he had the dark mark..but i still believe tht it was all a plan made by dumbledore ...

even i think tht snape was good in closing his mind tht's y dumbeldroe could not read his mind or dumbleodre surely believed him from his heart and thought better to show tht he is dead but them come back as a super hero.. 😛

I think Snape is an excellent occlument. Both Dumbledore and Voldemort are masters of legligimency. He sure was cheating one of them. I hope he cheated Voldemort. That is more probable.

It could be one of these 2 reasons from my perspective:

a] Dumbledore could read Snape's mind and knew he would not betray him (as Alia di mentioned)

b] Snape closed his mind off at all times so nobody, not even great old Dumbledore could not penetrate it
