Hmm this was such an interesting topic, missed it before, but I was just having some thoughts about this. This might be a little off-topic,
JKR has said time and again that according to her, courage is the BEST virtue one can possess. I think this shows in her books as well.
Gryfindor-courage (the 'cool' house to be in LMAO!:P)
Slytherin-ambition
Hufflepuff - hardwork
Ravenclaw-intelligence
Do you really believe courage is the best virtue like JKR?
OR
Do you think that there is no such thing as a 'best virtue'? Every trait has greatness in it's own right?
@Sareeta, sorry for being a kinda off-tangent,
so guys, what do you think?
well, i don't agree with JKR at all this time. i don't think there exists such a thing like 'the best virtue.' every virtue is equally great and admirable.
and, about the topic, really nice one!
many ppl mistake courage for just determination n the strength for supporting what u think is right... but courage is much more than that.
the difference can be described by harry n voldemort. both were brave, determined n strong! but harry had the courage... it was courage that gave harry the strength to face death!
according to me, ron, harry, dumbledore, snape, RAB, harry's parents n hagrid were some of the most courageous characters...
they all had to face n cope with very difficult situations that require courage... like, ron had to apologise for his mistake(ya, it takes a lot of courage... do u think voldemort cud apologise for his mistakes?), RAB stood up against his own master, dumbledore had to accept his faults, too... and we all know what caused harry to say that snape was one of the bravest men he knew...
this is courage! to be able to face ur worst fears...
