Dudley is too thick to be in Ravenlow,

Too much of a chicken to be in Griffyndor

Certainly not hardworking to be in Hufflepuff

So that leaves Slytherin... dunno... but he'd be good friends with Crabbe and Goyle... thick headed gits all of them! Ha Ha Ha!

😆Good response! Personally, I don't think he fits into Slytherin either, because he's not cunning (more like stupid), and he's definitely not ambitious, but he doesn't fit into the other houses either.
But...I think we've seen in the seventh book that he grew up a bit, and his almost apology to Harry kind of made it seem like he'd be in Hufflepuff, because if Vernon hadn't told him to hurry up, I believe he would have properly apologized to Harry (although an apology wouldn't be enough, considering how the Dursleys treated him for 11 years and ruined his childhood). I still don't think Gryffindor or Ravenclaw would fit him, but maybe Hufflepuff, because Dudley seemed almost loyal in the seventh one, and had he been properly brought up by Petunia and Vernon and not become a bully, who knows what kind of personality he would have had?

Well, I know some of you might say that Dudley's far from innocent, but dunno why he's always struck very naive to me, like someone who doesnt have the ability to judge what's good/bad for him. He doesnt seem to fit any of the groups to me, but the closest I can get is that he would be a Hufflepuff although he isnt hardworking. But that can be due to the fact that, till now, he has been given everything in a platter and not worked to achieve anything because of the way he has been brought up. I cannot see a Gryffindor/Ravenclaw in him at all. But I do feel that, had his parents been pureblood and he would have been brought up a certain way where his parents might have discriminated against other-bloods, he would have been in Slytherin since he doesnt question his parents beliefs. (Like for example, his parents hate harry for having the magical abilities and Dudley does the same.) But still, overall I would say he is a Hufflepuff.
BTW, he did quite a bit of growing up from books 5 to 7, in the last book he is shown to be much more mature. This is another proof that sorting is unnecessarily done at age 11. People could change and mature. It does not allow for the growth and transformation that can occur over time.

I don't think Dudley was far from innocent. I quite agree with your statement. Both Slytherin and Hufflepuff would suit him, but who knows? If he had been brought up properly, he might have been in any house, b/c his personality would be different.
I agree though that sorting is done too early, but then, when would they do it? By the time the kids mature, their schooling would almost end, so there would be no use of sorting them then.

well since dudley didn;t seen to change until the last book, at the age of 11 when he would have been sorted he would have only suited slytherin , because in many ways his personality is similiar to that of crabbe and goyle, his lack of intelligence, his reliance on stronger people, his lack of sympathy for others, his bully personality were all characteristics of goyle and crabbe, so he almost certaintly would been part of dracos pack, since he changed in the last book he might have been like snape; meaning although he might presnet himsefl as a horrible person from the inside he was a good person with a kind heart, but again like someone said theres no point sorting when people have matured because most likely they are about to leave school when that happens
