so it seems that nikhil's grandfather is the reason behind the marriage. But i have to say that the villagers really blew things out of proportion

They sure did but I think part of it has to do with how they blame her for "ruining" the image of their whole village with the whole wedding fiasco from the day before. They were just looking for a sheep to slaughter and that just gave them the perfect opportunity to ruin Lajo's image as they feel how she ruined theirs.
Can't believe such gutter thoughts and I'm surprised no one asked the Dr. to look at her injured ankle at all either😛

I also think so, they will get married because of the social pressure. The villagers blow the things out of proportion, but somehow I don't blame them as they are parents themselves and are afraid to be labeled as a village that allows girls and boys to spend the night outside together without being married.They are afraid that no one from an other village will want to marry someone from their village.

At the same time, Laajo and Nikhil have the right to defend their honor. So it's really hard to say who is right and who is wrong.
