One day down and CM gone is like below the belt - IF 😡

Reemz - Given how well rounded and satisfactorily this story has been closed, I still found myself thinking - all day long - of at least a month's worth of episodes that could have come our way in adding up the yet missed little things... I'd have liked Gullu's diary to come in, and Gullu to sit in a sea of Kesar's letters... I'd have delighted in getting 'genuine and sound' two weeks in the GK home alone phase... nothing was rushed... but I would take more than what we got anyday! More situations, more scenes... I wouldn't even mind a Duggu Gulaal encounter when he was found out to be the murderer - in Kesar's presence this time... I would have liked random scenes like GK doing groceries together one time... or just taking a long walk in the aam baag - say the day at the mandir when Kulli had to meet, post DV break? I dunno... I would just loved loved loved more and more GK conversations. The intense/intimate scenes are thumbs up always - but their dialogs, even the silent eye locks are so charged and right there at the top... I've been wishing all day this didn't have to wrap up so soon. It was enough time to not be 'hurried and scurried' out of theme or standard, and I'll be grateful for that - but if I say mein itne mein hi khush hu - it would be as half hearted and resigned as Kesar from his scene...

JZee, you've depicted such lovely GK scenes one would love to see..you know sometimes I have wished how wonderful it would be if the next show "diya aur baati hum" would be on Gulaal-Kesar, on their life from here on...and then there was this VM made by Rimjhim which had GK on the title song of diya aur baati and the song seemed so right for them..

I physically can't get myself to watch any other show now. I'll just start comparing and hating automatically. Now I've turned my preferences off too so I can't see anyones GK dabba :( The next few days are going to be difficult.

Yeh my *cough* hate tendencies *cough* for other shows are at a dangerous high at this point. Not even funny - I doubt I can stand to be objective, forget tolerant - on any other forum if I get into any kind of discussion... So I'll stay away from discussion trouble...

BTW - I've officially lost it with watching the Neil Mansi interview! Does anyone here love the khach khuch in the end so much to have seen it 43765467548239647928 times already?! And justtt in the end, when Mansi goes Neil has gotten little more because the girls... he makes this nose scrunched expression at Mansi (which is SO SO AWESOME!) and looks back to camera and says bye! Oh not to mention he almost had a slip of tongue saying thank you for all the love you've given m...us! 😆 Oh these two ... 😍 & 🥺 Why is Gulaal over again?! Is kyun ka jawab is as convoluted as Kesar's once upon a time - Koi mujhe ye batayega Gulaal aur mera rishta hai kya?! Epic days...

Here's what you said in that thread :

Word VJ! They have truly lived their roles. Its like they were never anyone but the characters they portrayed - and while Mansi has had her challenges in showing chemistry with not one but two leads in such genuine strains of the heart, Neil has had his greatest hurdle in merging with the character seamlessly from where Ali left behind, and add his own layers to it, of becoming a grown up version of complex Kesar!

On that note, I want to add Ali to the list. As someone who caught up with the show at the peak of Mansi and Neil moments, and caught up 'verbally' on the story background, the joy I have found in revisiting old scenes of Mansi and Ali - is almost a marvel to me sometimes! This show has completely transformed and redefined the term 'onscreen chemistry' - setting such a high new standard for it - one can't but doubt if it really is possible to recreate something so brilliant!

Wont miss Dushyant - because his character comes right after GK for me - as one that my heart went out to so entirely. Sushant Singh establishes his forte as an actor - whatever the screen or challenge!

Again - thanks to the team of Gulaal for giving us this genius entertainer - which went on to become much more than just another show for us =)

@bold :How finely you understand it and how rightly you word it - indeed while Mansi was brilliant no doubt , Neil did this additional amazing thing of understanding Kesar"s character to the chore and taking over from another actor - a kid at that - and managing to "look" like him (Ali) in so many scenes later -character toh always and kabhi kahbi to shakal bhi ekdum waisi banna leta thaa ! Amazing !
And you are bang on in adding Ali , actually I never saw much in his phase except few random episodes which , in hindsight, were quite significant ...like I remember him complaining to Gulaal sometime after diyarvattu , something to the effect - tu mujhe aise mat treat kar , kissi ki bhi patni aise mahin karti hai ...indicating how early on he had actually taken Gulaal as a "wife" whole-heartedly ...just the meaning of that word got deeper and deeper with time ...not his sincereity to the relationship ...that was always there from day one !
Sushant, ofcourse, I kind of took him for granted as a veteran veteran actor who"s proved himself yet again... and as you can see, I am so smitten by Kesar that I can barely see anything else ..the fatrthest my "Kesar- full " eyes go is upto Gulaal , and then may be Motabha for all his fatherly and wiseman affection...

^^ VJ - The indication of Gulaal and Kesar hatke relationship than a usual child and elder was always obvious! He had this sense of treating her like an equal from back then - every other elder in the house, was an elder to him. Even Rewa and Devaki were, in a sense... Gulaal was like Gulaal. Just his level. Talli was below him, lol! 😆 And his understanding of the word 'wife' may have come much much later, but really, he A) wanted to do lagan with her - in fact in this one scene before in the Vasant Gulaal wedding time, he says he had found himself a girl, but Vasant was doing lagan with her now! In another scene he asks Raman Bha if it is not possible for Vasant Bha and him (Kesar) to do lagan with the same girl!!! And of course, after the DV there are several instances of him making the patni reference. Mostly provoked by friends, but the idea, that he's okay with having a wife BECAUSE its Gulaal... he doesn't understand the word - which is perhaps one reason he let's Vasant bha do the lagan and have Gulaal for a wife - samjh jaata to allah jaane kya zidd karta LOL! 😆 - but she's like his girl... inside his head, since forever!

Reading your posts I'm back into nostalgia mode again 😭...I will sincerely miss this show and this forum - JZephyr, Reemz, Nur, Anjalg's (to cite a few) wonderful analysis of the show. This is really like being on withdrawal!! I already miss Neil/Kesar and Mansi/Gulaal's magic on screen. They will always remain one of my favorite indian TV couple - their story/love so deep, meaningful, so so unique...with actors fully doing justice to their respective roles 👏

The ending was great. I really loved it. Everything have been said so I won't repeat. I'm sad ofc to see such a show end while there are so much dragfest shows out there still going but on an other hand I'm happy that it got to end on an high note, the ending respecting the core of the show. Thanks to CVs for remaining true to their story till the end, for bringing us such a beautiful, poignant story... such an interesting and delicate concept is rarely effectively shown on desi-shows so a big kudos to them and all the actors who have successfully brought life to their characters 👏 I will always have a fond place for this show in my heart and also a profound respect ...my only regret is that I wasn't part of the Gulaal journey since the beginning but I'm proud to have been part of it for however little time that I was...
I don't think I will find such an engaging show like Gulaal again so I think I'm done with desi shows... Thank you all girls for the great time I had here Bye Bye to all of you
PS: never said this but to all of you who have read my posts, thank you for doing so and putting up with my crappy english 😳😆

^^ I'm only going to say your PS was utterly pssst! Not needed! You should know that missy!

Thank you, on the other hand, for chipping to the discussion with some very well put forth and precise observations... We've all had a lot of overlapping opinions and pointers, but hearing them said in different ways, and from different people just ends up bringing out literally every nuance that exists, sometimes even those that don't! 😆 I've wondered if the CVs looking at anyof our debates wouldn't scratch heads and wonder how wella we've been to go on and on and on and on... and more after! 😆 But its been as much a part of enjoying Gulaal, as watching the show itself...

And here's to hoping maybe another show will pull you back to the rut 😃 It was great having you around on the threads Aeryn!

xx

Thanks for you're kind words JZephyr.
It was my pleasure to be here. I'll hope for the same. I'll certainly won't mind finding myself discussing and dissecting another brillant show (if ever one presents itself) with you all 😃 Until then take care...

I feel like this arrogant person judging the other shows now and anyone who actually thinks the world of them 🤣

I'm so happy that we at least got that one last interview!! It shall help us survive a tad longer. That khach khuch was 🤣 Could anyone translate that in to numbers?? I loved the 'are you having an emotional breakdown?' part too!

Koi mujhe yeh batayega Gulaal aur mera rishta kya hai?

OH BLOODY HELL :(

@Aeryn: It was a pleasure reading your views too!! Now I'm feeling really nostalgic too..! :((((

Wow, I see now that that was a beautiful relationship..must go back and watch them all... and chotu Kesar was too good , Ali is also no less an actor yaar, whatever little I have seen of him ... really , one big forte of this show has been its casting , in terms of talented actors and the way they suit their roles..

You know I was just writing somewhere, dont know which thread (as I am jumping everywhere today like a bhatakti aatma, after the void created by the show )..in hindsight, we didnt like Talli inspite of the good things she did for GK (eg she got out of their way , played cupid , decided to get married to another guy, gave them her house etc) because may be it was a case of wrong casting , like the new Paanbaa. As you were saying once ,If the old Paanba had done the same things it would have had a different feel and may be in the ME we would have forgiven her.
So nothing personal against the girl Halley , but I think somewhere her personality and?or talent didnt match the rest of the gang hence she always stuck out like a sore thumb , raman also was a close case , but little better ...worst ofcourse was the new PaanBaa...

So coming back to the point , I am so glad Neil and Mansi were Kesar and Gulaal , I doubt if the magic would have been same with lesser actors...
