Nur - YOU DID?! The marathon I mean?! I've played out every scene I can think of at random moments in the BG of working on my system, so I've ended up saving lots and lots of old GK scenes! like about 10 GB of space!

Reemz - I'm up for it! I'm loving the watching the old epis with Srushti's threads is working out, and I can hardly complain about watching 2 episodes a day, instead of one šŸ˜†

@Vasant scene - I think I would have been fine about it, like tolerant accepting, if he had ended with - yehi tere dil ki awaaz hai Gulaal... and not, aur meri itchcha bhi! I could have dealt with Vasant going all preachy, because it was her subconscious afterall, giving her a clearance, and not 'The Vasant' - if only they'd left out that last bit... but then Gullu might still have managed a way to snub 'her heart' to use Vasant for an excuse šŸ˜† Overall - I could ignore the scene for whatever about it I did not like. Didn't bother me half as much as its trailer had. Mostly because it was preceded by A) the mandir confession from Gulaal - which clarified her feelings for Kesar straight up! B) The barging of Kesar into her Vasant exclusive paradise C) her scenes with PooBaa and MB giving it to her in her face. I really really liked her scene with MB in the finale - it was fantastic in every sense, and second only to the confession itself! For the rest, I ignored the haveli witches, and Kulli, and random necessary rounding scenes. I had to put a tad of en effort to look through Raman as if he's transparent, but I managed (he's going to be one sore thing about this show. made no sense at all!) AND - I would have been bonus happy if we'd had a glimpse of Sushant for the final celebration. To be honest, if Gulaal had to continue for a season 2 - (not that I root for watching their married life) I think Dushyant's life hereafter would be a very interesting thread to follow up...

I don't think he was kissing her hand 🤣 It just hit me that these two didn't even have a forehead kiss. Everything about them was SO charged yet they remained 'pure' as ever.

Jzee: LOL I also ignored the Vasant scene in the larger scheme of things...along with the haveli witches as you've very aptly named them...the Raman angle was the one most obviously wrapped up just for the sake of ending the show or I'm sure they could've gotten much more mileage from him as a villain.

Like you said, the confession scene was THE scene I was really waiting for and wanting to live up to what I wanted and I got that...so to me it's the right ending...

If the show had continued on, then I feel that notice should have happened some time earlier...cuz then they could have fleshed out the Dushyant revelation in a more interesting manner, done more with the whole track of GK leaving the house/their interaction during that time, Gulaal's realization etc. etc...this could have all have been shown in tandem with the Dushyant angle somehow creating more complications as well cuz basically Kesar never found out that Dushyant lusted after Gulaal...that would have opened up a lot more threads for storyline and honestly Sushant is such a fine actor, I would have liked to see him getting his own full track too and seeing where his life went from there.

But if the show had only been continued on from the point where they ended it, then yes it would have been more family drama, family rituals, etc. etc...and yes probably some GK romance sprinkled in but I feel we got such a brilliant emotional high that I can live with this ending in this sense...IF the show had taken the path of fleshing out the Dushyant track more, then I'd have wanted it to continue too.

Oh and while counting our blessings...atleast we were spared Talli/Kulli crap in the finale...thank the lord...lol

And Jzee, I watched the pre-leap epis sometime through July end-mid Aug...I was doing a marathon session side by side...I feel the urge from time to time...lol

I agree, everything was so charged without a single cliche "close" moment b/w them...honestly other shows should watch and learn...how chemistry can be created simply through eyes and body language...and CLASSY direction. The characters have such history b/w them that when they look at each other, it's like you can read that entire history, the entire emotion of that history passing b/w them every single time...

The urge to go back to GK is like a never dying out spark - it seems to me atm.

Btw - I think the entire Kesar comes to know about Dushy lusting after Gullu angle was sort of vaguely covered in the pondside confrontation. I'm not sure they were aware of how much or how little their track time will be from that point, but they did sort of ambiguously go over the topic. Kesar addressing the fact that Dushyant 'wanted' to marry Gulaal - was not a direct hit at the lust, but the idea was there. That plus Raman's instigation. I think what changed after that confrontation was Kesar battling his demons of insecurity about losing Gulaal to Dushyant - especially after she hit him straight across the face when he accused her of wanting him out of the way with Talli to clear way for Dushyant and her. Technically, he was always only bitten by the green monster, but never quite in belief of Gulaal cheating them like that... but it bothered him tons, and that confrontation sort of closed her end. For good. After that he was basically aware of 'Dushyant's' wanting to have married her angle. It could have been done far more elaborately, true, had time been a luxury - and I would have loved loved loved for that - but it wasn't as unwrapped an end, as I temporarily wondered about in the more recent episode where Gullu opens up with Kesar about the history. Of course, we've all always speculated about Kesar getting to read Gulaal's diary. It would have been one classic scenario to watch!

Yes. When Dhusyant was gone I felt the CV's were starting to close shop. If the show had to continue Dhusyant would have to be kept to make the track interesting.

Wish Kesar found out what the extent of Dhusyant's feelings were for Gulaal, not that it would have mattered one iota because Gulaal had now confessed.

The confession scene left me breathless.

"You leave me breathless
You're everything good in my life
You leave me breathless
I still can't believe that you're mine."

SHAYNE WARD - BREATHLESS LYRICS

I should now go watch that scene againšŸ˜

I shall never forget how close to dropping a feather light peck atop her head Kesar was, when she confessed the history of events and cried into his chest - he was ALMOST there! It was such a right moment for something like a protective peck - and yet, for GK and their intricacies, there never really was scope for it - at any point. We should celebrate getting 3 and half precious hugs šŸ˜†

@Jzee: Ah yeah Dushyant's feelings for Gulaal were hinted at in the pond scene but technically since Gulaal never gave any direct answers, I wouldn't really say that thread was closed...it was more like that thread was put aside cuz all thoughts rushed out of Kesar's mind post her, "Tera mujh pe koi haq nahin hai" outburst. ...after that, his focus totally shifted.

And later on when the Dushyant angle resurfaced, it was post Kesar's realization, confession etc. which I think were all the real catalysts for him pushing that angle out of his mind forever...like he later tells Gulaal, "pata nahin maine kaise tujh pe shaq kiya"...so that implies that he was suspected Gulaal and Dushyant together...he still ofcourse doesn't comprehend what DUSHYANT did as an individual when it came to Gulaal...and that was never revealed implicitly by Gulaal either...so yes, it wasn't a totally unfinished thread but it was phased out in a gradual way since they became aware that they won't have enough time to delve deeper...

The diary toh was never even mentioned post-leap...interesting cuz that's a rare thread they didn't tie up...

LOL@ Kesar being close enough to drop a kiss on her forehead...true...and yet there just didn't seem the need...his EYES in that scene...you can't look away from the intensity of that emotion...it's worth far more than any kiss.

Three and a half hugs hi sahi but each was shown more naturally than most shows manage in YEARS...lol...so indeed they are precious.

I think Nur mentioned about how every movement/nuance from MP and NB as Gulaal-Kesar was so precise that they brought the correct amount of intensity and proximity when required. I've said this many times before but while other shows will have a 'push to the wall' type scene just for the sake of looking 'hawt', the pareshani scene in Gulaal was SO correctly done. The tension had built up so much that he just had to pull her closer physically...it just felt right!

Now I'd be very apprehensive if SP decides to bring back part 2 of this show some years later on.
