Wonderful post Lennie! I've only caught up on written posts of this show - because i just couldn't resist temptation - but I still need to sit and watch the half a week that I'm behind.
However, that said I for one am not disappointed by the turn that has come about. I know we can all mourn the parted ways between Kesar and Gulaal at the moment, abut anything less momentous would have been less than justifiable. In plains simple words, Kesar's candid confession (that over and over and asserted in every manner) has left her feeling scandalized, and violated. When she was telling Vasant some time ago of how things were slipping from between her fingers, it was about the dire mayhem in circumstances, but knowing Gulaal, she would have borne it all, survived, and resurfaced in the name of duty.
What she cannot take at all is this. This feeling of having been crept upon by something impure... It's quite a classic scenario, really, and precisely what makes the show as exciting as it is atm - that both these leads (and even the side third Talli) are all sort of right in their own predicament. They may make us happy or mad or annoy us plainly as the audience, but thing is, not only are they all tied up on a jumbled mess interweaving all their lives, the entire big picture is actually something that might be plausible in some remote section of India exactly the way it is portrayed - perhaps the latter most of realism in this script, despite the seeming wild jumps and twists is what makes me a most loyal viewer for this show.
The one character I think is somewhat - just slightly - overdone is Sudha Bhabhi atm. While Talli goes off and vents on everyone, she does very much understand Gulaal's lack of control in this situation (just a little of her confidence in gul perhaps stem,s purely from how much and far Gul has gone to avoid this circumstance and fix it...) but Sudha bhabhi, for all her hurt and feeling cheated, is behaving in almost oblivious manner... like she can look at things through a grey shade scale and can't see the entire picture with all its facts... Since I haven't watched this show forever, I don't know what she was like, or if she was always the good character and support she was shown to be in general and what exactly went wrong between Raman and her... perhaps some of her own life's events lead to her current temperament, but I don't understand it enough atm, with my part knowledge. And my issue has no bias founded in her opposition of Kesar Gulaal - because then I'd shoot down far too many people in that light... It's plainly lacking justification and grounds for me, atm.
And phew - long one... given I still have to watch the episodes... Hopefully i can catch on to all missed, before they air the episode for today! (:
