KESAR WITH TALLI

Kesar has a very plain look on his face even when Talli bangs against him. Realizing her embarrassment (was she really), Kesar diverts the topic as he spoke to the children in the most sweet way that their Didi will come over later. Seeing Talli, Kesar was really helpless about the whole situation that he asks why she wanted to marry him. As a friend he does feel for her, that is what I felt that when he was willing to have a talk with her asking why she wants to marry him, how much she knows about him that she loves him. Her answers do trouble him. When she mentions Gulaal, he is irritated but never once letting her know, he extracts more information from her, at the same time confirming that she even dreams the dreams Gulaal woven for her. He teases her as Dabloo, when she retaliates; he knows how to shut her up citing her weakness (her desperation to marry him). He is calm to cover up his annoyance when she asks if her doubts will never rest. When asked if he has decided under pressure, he does not have an honest answer. His eyes show that uncertainty because he does not love her and has not decided as per his wish.

KESAR WITH JAMNA BA

Kesar has decided to taunt Gulaal in every possible way. His eyes seek her and her reaction. Constantly seeking her response with a "Kyun Gulaal?" he makes sure she is uncomfortable. Kesar takes note of Dushyant's intervention. Kesar covered up his hurt with a sweet smile as he taunts him too saying he must be really happy. That was superb when Kesar faked a smile at Sudha while asking her to fix an early date for the wedding. The contradicting feelings of that of happiness on his face and hurt in the eyes were brilliantly done. When after that he looks at Gulaal, his eyes showed that hatred as his false smile paled out

KESAR'S "SAGAI"

Kesar approached in style, all dressed up, looking smart and handsome. The color suited him well.

Did I see that Gulaal had a glow when she took note of how handsome Kesar looked in the Sherwani.

Kesar tried his best to pretend normalcy to show his interest, happiness and involvement in the engagement ceremony. Ha, that was a sweet reminder of the dialogue "Yeh ladka apni dulhan ko liye bina kahin nahi jayega". Honestly the dialogue is quite nostalgic, be it SRK's DDLJ or Abhi's KB. Only the Mehendi part was missing. Okay, I have gone off-topic. Back to Kesar.

When Paanba and Sudha were busy with the rituals, Kesar looked at Talli just once but his gaze was fixed at Gulaal. When Sudha showered those flower petals on Kesar, it was kind of quick and natural of her to adjust his hair to prevent the petals from falling to his eyes. It came out naturally. I really could not understand Gulaal's expression as she kept looking at Kesar. Was that affection or love, I am not sure. Of course he too kept gazing at Gulaal with a smile. He does love her from his heart and soul and that is obvious. Kesar was quite sportive when the girls were teasing him, but he had his own group of friends who suggested that he maintains his "importance" as the prospective groom-in-demand by choosing another girl. At that moment too, Kesar has all his eyes on Gulaal only.

By being so mischievous, he deliberately picks Gulaal's hand, but maintains such a sweet and innocent face. My god, was that pretending heights of innocence asking his mother "Lagta hai galat haath aa gaya mere haath mei, Ba, ab mei kya karoon??. With Paanba's go ahead for "Pehna de", he is still giving a glance at Gulaal. I loved Jamna Kaki here who said "Galat hai ya sahi, kaun jaane". For once I loved Gulaal squirm at his playfulness, his sarcastic comment and Jamna Kaaki's taunt.

The focus on both their hands with Kesar letting go off her hand unwillingly was lovely. I never liked that finally Kesar and Talli had to exchange rings. Even after that Kesar looks at Gulaal smilingly, when she smiles back, his smile fades away. I really pity Kesar.

KESAR WITH GULAAL

Kesar's eyes lacked the warmth but showed some determination as he walked into the kitchen. It was the first face-to face meeting between them after their disastrous showdown previous day. How well both were pretending as though nothing at all has passed between them. He greeted her with a smile, was quite friendly in his approach as he said he is hungry, can't wait for food and demanded that she fed him the sweets. For a minute he had turned into his actual self, the same Kesar who demands attention from Gulaal. Why couldn't she sense his sarcasm when he said he is too hungry when he is so happy, she is the reason for his happiness today, has never been as happy in all these years? He acknowledges with a nod when she apologized for not talking properly to him (that's an understatement, she was mean). He heaves a sigh in spite of maintaining a smile when she mentions that family and Talli are happy. As usual, in spite of all this, all Kesar is concerned is how she feels. "Aur tu?", No one asks her that, only Kesar who does. Sad that she can never understand him. When she replies "Mei?", he nods in affirmation as if saying "Yes, you?" Unfortunately she says yes, and that was the end of the pretended sweetness in him.

He squeezed her hand tight that the laddoos dropped in crumbs. His heart is also in the same situation because of her behavior. Hatred and anger spilling from his eyes, he warned her of consequences of her decision to fix the marriage. His vengeance was clouding his thinking. He made it clear to her that he has agreed only to prove that all single handed decisions that she took to plan other's lives has been wrong. Gulaal's test has just started. When his words spoke of vengeance, when he threatened to trouble Talli post-marriage just to get even at her and make her realize the mistake that she can't guarantee happiness for Talli without his cooperation, Gulaal was scared. Kesar wants her to repent for all her decisions especially her promise to Talli. Gulaal was speechless when Kesar said "Talli ke aansoo, tere aankhon mei pachtaava banke chamkegi Gulaal ,after which you would never decide other people's lives.

When she said he can't do this to her, that he is playing pranks with her, he out rightly reminded her that she plays with other's lives, that no one can stop him and specifically she can't since she has no rights whatsoever to order around. So much hatred out of anger and resentment, Kesar has decided to teach her a lesson to make her realize that she is ruining three lives. At this point I feel he is making her realize that because of her stubbornness, he will hurt Talli, in a way it's almost turning to appear suicidal as he is planning to go ahead with this marriage and hurt himself more in the process. He has guaranteed that all the three are not going to be happy.

What was worth watching was that at the end of all this warning and showing his hatred and vengeance, when he says "Shaadi Mubarak ho", his tears overflow. Now that is called Love.

I remembered Simi's KB dialogue when she said that "pyaar ke rang mei, nafrat ke rang kho jaate hain". At the end of it, love overcomes hatred.

Precap:

Kesar has sets the wheels in motion. Who ends up hurting the most, is to be seen. I love to see that Gulaal is scared out of her wits and she is in fact almost shivering hearing him speak from behind, his sarcasm affecting her that she is just not her usual normal confident self.

MeySimi...

Great insights...
Arrey this Gulaal Unilateral Inc. is truly a government monopoly. Motaba acknowledged that the deeyarvattu was illegal, but isnt Gulaal imposing her edited version of child marriage yet again? I give up all hopes of the marriage being called of becuase the panditji had said she would be "vijayi" in everything she undertook. Lord help us!!!

@Trifolia, Thanks
His aashirwad "Vijayi bhava" and the first official inaugural video on this forum about Gulaal show where Manasi speaks that Gulaal knows exactly what she wants, what she doesn't want and she also knows very well how to go about convincing people.
So we never know. And I read on forum about Saat pheres being called as a rishta by Panditji. In that case Kesar and Gulaal's is not yet a proper rishta. But whosoever, her second rishta is safe. I don't see the possibility that she may have another for an actual rishta again. If Gulaal cannot warm up to Kesar's love for her, there is never going to be another at all. If she does, it has to be Kesar and if not no one else other than "the rising from the dead" theory bringing back Vasant.
But MB and PB are also married thru the ritual, then isn't it valid?
Too many loopholes. Better not to read too much between the lines. Keep our sanity intact.

Nice post Mey-Simi, really well written. Needless to say anything about the acting! What a splendid job that was?

Everything he says and does somewhere mean he is kind of getting ready for GK, for him all the rituals are kind of with Gulaal, his riddles and expressions.

K-T convo was kind of like adult-child type.

K-J was like recruiting for his side.

Kesar sagi-yes Gulaal had some expression towards Kesar which is hard to explain. The look on Sudah was hilarious, sort of wait and see.

K-G was a real blackmail, a trap in her own web. He has closed all doors for her and solved his entire problem in one goes that is if he is forcing her to accept him.

Could the promo voice over about some decisions for ourselves-could it mean that he is trying to make Gulaal choose him as for KG and not anybody else. Also in the article it said what is on Kesar's mind is yet to revel. I mean he is kind of making G-Tsee if marriage happens and make Gulaal accept him.

Lovely write up. The most I enjoyed is shaded. Especially this line:

That was a superb scene and agree that Neil is just too good in portraying these emotions so crystal clear. And as usual you never miss any.

Rightly said Swarna. Actually Neil is such a marvel. Watching him makes everything about Kesar so real. One can easily sympathise and feel for Kesar. His eyes have that intensity to speak a language anyone can understand. Iam so really looking forward to this Kesar setting Gulaal right. This Maate needs to think that there could be someone who is not always convinced by her snap decisions.
