actually one day i was just reading a topic on pratigya forum & i saw a pic of gulal & keasr n this suddenly gains my attention. so i m going to watch gulal from 2nd may.

can any1 please give me a short summary of the story so far please i'll be very thankful!!!

welcome dear to this forum ! this is story losely based on the novel ek chaddar mailli si ...Gulaal takes an insight into to the old age custom of Deeyarvatu withinGujarat , a custom which allows widow remarriage and is prevalent amongst the Gujarati community. Taking the audience on a journey of one woman's trials and tribulations within her family...

Gulaal (mansi ) is a young vibrant energetic 20 year old girl of rahipur having a unique quality of finding water in barren land...one day a boy named vasant from talsagra comes in search of her i...and takes her to his own village and thereafter gulaal find water in talsagra and eventually falls in love..with vasant ...vasant family consist of motaba (father ) panba (mother ) jamna kaki (chachi kaka (uncle) rewa(sister) dushyant (older brother and son of jamna kaki ) and kesar ...kesar is 12 year mischievous naughty boy and loves his brother vasant dearly...on the other hand dushyant develops crush for gulaal and kesar soon becomes fond of gulaal and ...after some times gulaal and vasant gets married and dushyant is left in rage and in anger ...after their marriage the newly weds along with motaba and panba plan to pay a visit to a temple to seek blessing ...but unfourtunately they met an accident in which whole family is deeply injured somehow dushyant reaches the accident spot and saves gulaal motaba and panba ...and throws already injured vsant in river to take his revenge and to win gulaal ...its assumed that vasant is dead ...gulaal's life is completely changed and devastated she is is subjected to the taunts and vilifications of jamna kaki while motaba and panba are still uncousious in the hospital ...Gulaal takes the responsibilty of kesar and rewa ...meanwhile jamna kaki and his other son ramesh and his wife sudha tries to take advantage of the situation and plans to kill kesar so that they become the owner of the entire property of motaba...gulaal comes to know about the plan and she decides to protect kesar she nutures him protects him and teaches him...and kesar completely abides gulaal decision ...for jamna kaki and her sons help comes in the form of the village counsel who agrees the only way to ensure the well-being of Gulaal's future , is for her to wed Dushyant under the custom of Deeyarvatu , a remedy which will cure all of Gulaal's problems and protect her honor and sanity...gulaal is forced to take decsion either to marry dushyant or leave the house leaving her share in the property to rest of the family members and leaving kesar in custody of jamna kaki ...gulaal who knows the plan of jamna kaki and intentions of dushyant ...marries kesar his younger devar by telling him to wear her huband shoes in order to protect kesar from his own family members...dushyant in anger kidnaps gulaal and tries to harass her where she says she already knew taht dushyant has killed her husband but she remain silent to make the family united and doesnt wants to hurt motaba and panba this confession comes as awakening call for dushyant ...he release gulaal and remains in great malady for wht he has done...meanwhile motaba is cured and is deeply worried for kesar future wen he comes to know that kesar and gulaal are married ...gulaal promises motaba and panba that she will always remain faithful to vasant she will marry kesar to a suitable girl of his age once he is mature to take his responsibility...here ramesh (other son of jamna kaki ) goes to jail for bigamy and sudha bhahi leads a lonely life .untill talli a orphan 10 year old girl comes in her life and fills her life with joy soon kesar and talli becomes best of frn and gulaal sees talli as future alliance for kesar... meanwhile kesar curiosity about his marriage grew day by day his acts and question brings big worry for the family...he gambles tell lies even drink wine as he thinks he is married and grown up person kesar attitude brings trouble to the family ...one day kesar finds the truth that dushyant has killed his dearest brother vasant from an old enemy durgesh( a eunuch who wanted to hide his truth from the village but vasant and gulaal bring the truth and he decides to take revenge ) ...durgesh confronts gulaal y she is hiding the truth from the family y she is protecting dushyant even says that dushyant and gualall has some deep realtions gulaal retaliate and ask durgesh to mind his own busniess unknowingly that kesar has listen all their conversation ...kesar worlds change in sec the person who he trusted the most has betrayed him he cant take this pain and start behaving rudely...motaba decides kesar to send to boarding in order to make him responsible...kesar thinks that gulaal has sent him away from the family so that she can control the family ...his hatred and anger towards gulaal and dushyant grew with time gulaal on the other hand tries to meet kesar but kesar refuses to meet her though he always see her walking away from him gulaal continously wrties him letter to which kesar reply but never post here talli loves for kesar grew she always dream about her and kesar marriage as gulaal promised her...in all this process 8 year passes and kesar return as young man with anger rage pain in his heart ...he leaves no stone to hurt gulaal and dushyant ...he has mixed response for gulaal on one hand he is angry as gulaal as betrayed him on the other hand he has some deep feeling for gulaal to which he is still clueless??.gulaal is surprised and hurt by kesar behaviour and realize that kesar is now grown up person...dushyant is changed man he tries to fullfill all the responsibilty of the family but doesn't wants to marry as he his guilty ...jamna kaki is determined to marry dushyant she confronts dushyant who refuses to marry... jamna kaki thinking that dushyant still waiting for gulaal... is trying to unite gulaal and kesar ...she even consults panba who is in deep thinking and inturn consults motaba...wen motaba asks gulaal about her and kesar relationship she says she will marry kesar to talli as soon as kesar become responsible...jamna kaki doent like talli at all and scolds talli to enter her room talli is dis heartened gulaal see her and console her... talli asks gulaal about her likings she says she likes garden sky lake and boating...kesar on the other hand goes to police station to open the shut case of vasant ...wen he returnstalli ask kesar to take her and gulaal to fo a ride and takes gulaal to a garden ...gulaal is delighted...talli and gulaal go for boating and kesar secretly watch gulaal ...talli plays a prank and pretend to be drown ...gulaal jumpes after her and her life in in danger kesar saves gulaal and he takes her to a nearby ayruvedic clinic where she is cured he is worried about gulaal talli says that kesar stil care for her but he denies and say he doenst care...gulaal listen all this and says her love will always remain same for kesar and for her kesar will remain same...

^ i read producer's inteview wen this serial was started he stated ...gulaal is 20 kesar is 12 and vasan is 22 ...vasant is 10 year older to his brother (kesar ) ...! but this forum says gulaal is 22 i suppose its correct then
