And you are right this show shows the reality of our society which 90% of women have to face

And in my opinion women should only marry if they are financially stable and women at all time should have solid garl group to share their troblem with

Sai lacks in that department too

Like she have no friends that can show her virat true face

Because alot of times women don't realize abuse its very very tricky

3rd pov always helps

Having soul sister for women in this day and age is very important

So true regarding having strong girl support group.

Otherwise the women most of the times in girl's family who internalize patriarchy give wrong advice like adjust , everything will get fine once you bear a child..

Sai is now shown as someone who writes her own right and wrong. As per her convenience things become fair and justified even if she has claimed V to be wrong. When she crosses boundaries that is correct.

The beauty of sai's character is that she doesn't anyone bind her by rules. She knows her priorities and she can go to any length for them.

Before marrying satya she made it clear to him and his family that her children are her priority. Also she was very clear to satya that she is only marrying him to stop Virat from coming after her. Things turn ugly between Virat and sai because virat is being adamant and not letting things go... their relation was over the moment he chose pakhi over sai yet sai is trying to be cordial with him because she doesn't want her kids to think there is some major problem between them she doesn't want to spoil their childhood because of the problem of adults.

There has to be a reason why SaiRat has dropped out of all popularity meters online. All the couples on TV are separated - Relationship, Auntyji, Tamarind, YHC, KKB, BL, KB etc etc. But they still have a massive fan following on social media. They all keep winning Jodi awards and still have a vast majority of fans who want them together. HC, GK, Krishna etc are still playing flawed MLs but top popularity meters on Twitter.

While I cannot speak of what TRP aunties want, as someone who grew up on ITV shows, I try to not judge the ML and FL of the shows on morality or character growth, because at the end of the day, shows are made for entertainment and rarely have a proper growth chart. Arnav forcefully marrying Khushi would have made him a monster in real life, but reel life and world is different.

However, maybe it’s the acting (less love, more aggression) or personal dynamics or flawed portrayals - SaiRat has lost its fanbase. A couple who used to win every couple poll on SM, now don’t even show up as an option.
I don’t know about TRP and most of us do not contribute to it, so it is futile talking about it, but the decline in SM popularity of both, the couple and NB individually is hard to ignore and I wonder what the reason behind it is.

. This is a really interesting POV. I also don’t contribute to TRP and have been watching ITV shows since I was little. I think the difference between old ML, like Arnav, and Virat is the audience that’s watching them. I think the angry aggressive ML was more widely accepted back then than it is today.

Also, I think it’s a different situation. And even then, Arnav had a reason, albeit it was an exaggerated misunderstanding. Also they eventually cleared that up and Khushi got in her questions at the right time.

Virats aggressive behavior towards Sai, especially in the latest few arcs, is brought on by himself. There’s no real misunderstanding or injustice happening where he is more in the wrong than the misunderstood FL. He was the one that was married yet still went after his ex wife expecting her to return to him. So whatever he misunderstood of Sai and Satya, is already so small in comparison to his own mistakes. It makes him much more irredeemable. He has no real right to be this angry at Sai or Satya. Or be this upset of being separated from Savi when he has kept Vinu away from Sai in the past. He has no moral ground or platform to stand on when accusing Sai of these things. And that’s why I think it’s hard to root for them as a couple.

While one can forgive (bc it’s tv) a ML who has completely misunderstood the situation and is reacting from a place of anger and hurt, it’s harder I think to forgive a ML who is doing the same thing but also being very hypocritical about it all. I feel like I have yet to see such a hypocritical ML before, and I think the audience sees that and can no longer resonate with him.

Plus be it Arnav or Maan they apologized when did wrong. Proper redemption was shown. I used to Watch Geet. When the ML behaved badly with FL when forgave her criminal and when she went away he was made to realise he was wrong by his family and his redemption didn't happen just by few words. It took episodes to FL forgive him and take him. Back we can't expect such things

The main reason for SaiRat's decline is the characteristization of Virat.

As someone who has been active in the forum for two years, I literally witnessed one whole chunk of SaiRat fans abandon ship every time Virat was involved in domestic abuse...starting from Pulkit lunch. I doubt this has happened with any fandom. Finally, surrogacy was the last straw that killed every ounce of the ship that was still alive.

Also, the treatment- unlike other shows, the portrayal of abuse is so real, it sends shivers down one's spine...in other shows like IPKKND, while we grimace & feel disgusted..it's all still presented in a larger-than-life manner.

The family is also so toxic - torturing Sai is their only hobby. In the original bengali version, after a point, all the family members genuinely starts loving the FL. But the family abuse continues to this day in Ghum - all for drama & toxicity. So when the ML blames the FL for not adjusting or accepting the family..it is infuriating.

All toxic MLs have some redeeming quality - they have realization of their wrongs & change. But all Virat does is cry tears and repeat the same abusive traits all over again..& so many times. 😔And he finally blames the FL for his abuse. Surrogacy was a shocker- I doubt if any other ML has committed a crime of this magnitude against the FL. In short, Virat's morals are too low for an ML.

There was a time when fans would beg makers to not copy the original..but ironically, Ghum surpassed Kusum Dola's toxicity a thousand times over. In this day & age, how will young female audience accept this? Except few fans who have enough stomach to let it slide & enjoy the good moments.

So my conclusion is that extreme toxicity & poor characterization of the ML killed the show & the ship for online audience. It was in makers' power to make Virat palatable..in the original version, even Pakhi was not vile...but their morbid obsession for toxicity killed the show. If not, all things being same, SaiRat would still have been popular to this day.

How horrible can the Chavans be to not even look at the boy's smile. 2 din se baccha sad hai, that kid is finally happy, atleast for his sake ignore the people you can't stand.

Healthy upbringing 101🤣

Also, Omi chachu, what about every single time Paakhi and Viru stood as couple infront of Sai? I hate what-aboutaries, but todhi toh hypocrisy ki maryaada rakho.
