Sadhika, they have made him so worthless with this whole act, that even if he is not technically married to P, it does lil to redeem him. SH track was husband, here he has trespassed the boundaries of fatherhood.

I’m not saying he is selfish or anything. But now it does not matter. He actions for the sake of one is destroying the lives of many. And with no fault of theirs. FGS, they are kids who don’t even know what is happening to them.
