Vankar ji you have been in this field for quite a while now and for whatever reasons, you seem to have lost completely with the direction of the entire TV entertainment industry. It could be due to the new age obsession with online buzz , Trp etc. Anyway I am not even going to refer to online buzz here.

Just a simple question - Why do you think TV audience watch your show?

In a typical household, its mostly the women folk and elderly who are the regular consumers of TV serials. And mostly the prime time viewers are those who switch on the TV to find some relief from their hectic day and relax with some light hearted entertainment. Isn't this the main intention of TV serials?

The general viewers are a cross section of the society, despite their social and economic demographics, who goes through enough struggles in their lives on a daily basis. Their outlet is watching these shows that either reflect their struggles and how that is overcome OR provide a positive message on how traditions can be changed, women can find their voices, strategies to overcome the issues faced by the common man.

But as a content provider, what are you serving day in day out? The only show I watch is Ghum, so my opinions are based on this show only.

I started watching this show when it reached almost 200 episodes. Sai and Sairat chemistry made me go back to watch all the back episodes. I was watching a Hindi serial after years and I have to appreciate you Vankarji that you brought my interest back in serial watching.

I lapped up the 200 episodes within a span of few weeks and got hooked. Only because of some basic reasons - Sai the character (the girl next door with a strong voice of her own - not ur typical abla naari u see in the serials - with whom I could relate because she represents many of us ), Virat, the flawed ML who is not your typical macho man or dumbass serial ML and most importantly Sairat and the beautiful chemistry they brought to the story by the 2 lead actors.

There were light moments, romantic moments, drama, volatile verbal sequences, heartbreaks, action, comedy - you name it - everything was served as a good healthy mix. For a viewer, it was a relaxing 20 min when he/she can forget about the real life struggles and see how Sai overcame her issues. You provided the reason for people to watch it regularly without fail.

But now, you seem to have lost your sense of direction. You seem to have forgotten why you were making this show in the first place.

Now all you serve is negativity, toxicity and crass content. I have stopped watching the episodes since Samrat died because it is affecting my mental health. Instead of harmless entertainment, you make people feel miserable after watching gut wrenching sequences when you make Sai go through maximum torture on screen. Just because you want to play the Trp game, you make her go through the most regressive treatment from other characters, you make her take the blame for every damn thing that happens on to herself and you show a ML who is deaf, dumb and blind.

As a normal TV viewer who switches on the TV at 8 pm to watch this crap, do you have any idea what goes through their minds? They already have a hundred issues that they deal with in their real life and instead of light entertainment, you give them more heartache and make them feel even more miserable. Why would someone want to see a character being butchered continuously like this on their TV screens unless they are heartless psychopaths, who enjoy the misery of other people?

And are you aware that this type of content, if watched over a period of time works on peoples' psyche and in the long term, they will start normalising the negativity in their own lives. It goes for both the abuser and the abused. Your show gives out the most regressive message that it is okay to abuse and it is okay to accept abuse quietly. Both are equally dangerous.

Domestic abuse, Spousal abuse, molestation, attempt to rape etc are real issues in our country. The statistics are frightening. Yet, you think it is okay to portray these things through your show? If you cannot provide answers to the issues, at least DONT be part of the abuse. Stop victim shaming, Stop normalising abuse.

Being a responsible citizen, you can at least do this bare minimum through your shows. If you do, you will be doing a great service to the people of this country.

Think about it Vankarji, its never too late to change.

There is a vast difference between TV audience and online audience.

Most people who watch on TV, as you rightly mentioned are women and elderly. They don’t care much about body doubles. Most don’t even notice. Online audience do.

Most TV audience 7 pm TV lagate hai and switch off by 10-11. Online audience pick and choose.

TV audience don’t really involve themselves with offscreen. Online audience do. There is a grandmother who lives near me. She watches Ghum. She did not know about real couple till she saw them on SJ.

But one thing is constant, too much torture of a single person results in people withdrawing from the show. Till the time the TV audience rejects them, the online audience will be never taken seriously. If I am taking more liberty, the attitude of the makers and PH and a few cast points more towards the fact that they think online audience are nothing more than trolls.

The show has TRPs but have you seen them nominated for any big awards? Nope

P.S: That grandmother watched SJ. initially she had no thoughts about the PL, after watching SJ, she dislikes her.

This right here is what should have been used to trend against Star Plus by united fandom as Shame on Star Plus.

Star Plus is image conscious of nayi soch despite not having it. By tagging right people in Star Plus/ Hotstar US by showing that primetime slot is being used to normalize abuse without consequence for almost a year might probably help end this show or correct their storyline.

I would rather the show ends than continue with female abuse.

I am glad started to watch it around 450 episode. Went back & found it interesting, loved Sairat. Now episode 530 will be last one. I will keep watching Sairat moments in first 500 or so episodes. Will go back to my regional shows. Bye bye Hindi shows.

Can someone send this to Star Plus? Or can someone start a trend on it?

Absolutely amazingly portrayed majority of the audience's thoughts.

I would slightly disagree there about the body doubles.. Since BD is part and parcel of such platforms.. But overuse of BD ruins viewing experience.. Surprisingly my mom notices BD faster than me 😆..

Audience are more invested in the fictional characters.. They don't care about actor's personal lives.. Fans crib about favouritism because it's happening every other day in this show..Lack of concern by actors and ph always result in permanent damage..

Now they should take online audience seriously because a large portion of viewers watch it on hot star instead of TV

TV will give them revenue of ads. I don’t know the absolute number. But online ratings mei Ghum is just ranking 10 ish while on TV, it is a top 2 show. Their focus is TV audience.

Does your mom care if they use body double or not? Would love to know her view. 😊Frankly I never gave it much a through till I saw I saw that pregnancy reveal episode. As a viewer, I felt disappointed.
