second time watching gave a good perspective on the precap.

Sai behaved in a mature way. If they start their relationship knowing that Virat tricked BK to get the marriage done, BK could extrapolate it to their SR too. Knowing CN wasis, they might disrespect their relationship by pointing out that Virat lied to them only to get laid. Or Sai let it happen for the same reason.

I am guessing Sai will arrange the room, just like he did for anniversary, showing her intention to proceed with him, but when he says he lied to BK, she might retract. To safeguard their love and relationship in front of these people.

Agree with you we actually have not seen any romance between SaiRat..they just used to flirt with each other.. Practically they never had intimacy.. Once Asmi mentioned during mimo track why there was no undergarments or menstrual pads in Sai's bag while virat was putting her clothes in the cupboard.. If they can't show this then they should show something similar to that.. Raman was peeping through while Ishita sticking her blouse.. Those scenes are quite intense..

SaiRat are in love with full of pda mode.. Virat was too overwhelmed when Sai has surrendered herself fully to him.. He knows what Aaba is for Sai, so it was kind of a feeling of togetherness for him since he knows what aaba is to Sai.. Then to everyone's surprise virat changes his name Virat Sai Chavan and States's some hard hitting facts.. Samrat supports them saying that Virat is lucky to get true love.. Honestly I don't feel sorry for samrat.. What's stopping him walking out of their marriage.. His worth is as good as the furniture in Pakhi's life..

If virat could convince to change his name then how come he agreed to Kaku's demand of making Sai a bahu.. He even managed to convince them to let rajiv staying in their house..

So this is my detailed review of the episode after a second viewing

Long post

Episode 500 was a milestone episode numerically and to me it reflected the conflict of generational gap and mindset.

An exercise in changing it one mindset at a time.

Episode starts with V asking Rajeev to stay in CN owing to his health. As expected BK Omi object but then the younger generation in form of V, Sai and Sammy make some points that change the mindset.

Sai, very pointedly asks why should he be called Ghar Jamai... when a woman is not called Ghar Bahu...

Rajeev doesn't look too happy with the prospect but agrees for Shivani.

Another important point is BK, on his face tells Pulkit that she has not accepted him yet. Pulkit knows and is understandably hurt.

But he very sternly refuses the option to live in CN. Hats off 👏👏

Finally someone who has self respect. Not that Rajeev didn't, but even he shouldn't have agreed and not because he will be ghar jamai but because BK will make his life hell. Why get into that knowingly?

Sometimes, I do wonder if BK really hates Devi because she is a girl child..

Pulkit has been nothing but sweet to them... Hasn't even filed a case when he can effectively put them behind bars. Whatever treatment they accord to him, he rises to the occasion when the need be... and is truly sweetest husband to Devi and has accepted her wholeheartedly.

So what's the deal with BK in not accepting him? Surely it must be something other than that. And that is probably because he is her damaad and not of her choice.

Sad... because it is difficult to believe that Devi is BK's daughter. Guess she gets her sweetness from Nagesh Ji.

The name change ceremony is another lesson in changing mindset of the elders.

On second viewing, I felt that while the dialogues seem normal, they are actually heavily loaded with deeper meanings.

When Sai says she wants to change her name, V looks surprised... as if he cannot believe it still and then very genuinely asks her

"Ek baar phir soch lo na?" As if I wont mind even if you keep on using Sai Joshi.

He won me then and there. ❤️

But then Sai says "hamare liye kar rahi hun.. taki hame koi alag na samjhe"...

Samajh gaye kya sab log???? Its a team now but more than that because they were continuously taunted about being in a deal, this reflected the ending of that deal... ab koi hame 2 individuals nahi samjhega... very cliched but 2 jism 1 jaan in a more sophisticated manner.

Then the whole conversation is about equality and all these rasms expecting a woman to change a lot for her married family. Expecting her to give up her identity, her career etc.

Importantly, even though Mansi, Ash readily agree on the ghar jamai idea, they are not so keen on the name change idea of V.

So its not that a mindset cannot be changed but how far a person can change or is willing to change is based on their ideals. Mansi later says that we will keep it within ourselves and people outside would not know. Again, she is open to the idea of name change until and unless it is within her set ideals.

Ash is understandably upset as it seems like V doesn't care for Ninad or his name. As per her generation, her ideals and his wife, I find nothing wrong when Ash got upset about skipping Ninad's name.

The younger generation is however receptive to the idea and cheers for Virat.

Another loaded dialogue is then said by Karishma. I get it now why she was made to say it.

Karishma has been a Team Popcorn but she is not a bad person exactly. She does get happy for SaiRat on occasion. It is her drive to see drama that makes her side with Sonali.

So while I initially did not like her whitewashing of V, this too has deeper meaning. She claims Sai is lucky because she has a husband who respects her and treats her as equal. Although it was said in jest, this to me signaled her own pain that she blurted out without realizing probably. A subtle comparison with her own husband and her treatment; by him and his family.

Mohit has been the kachha khiladi of the house and has been receiver of taunts for his job and low economic standing, so by extension Karishma too is targeted. It doesn't help either that she is a meddlesome person and enjoys other persons predicament. But that maybe a mask she has put on so that she can hide her disappointment.

Even though Mohit and Karishma have a love marriage, they have never been seen all lovey dovey and cosy. Whereas compare that to SaiRat where without even the confession, they cared for each other enough.

Karishma like Sai has been receiving jabs from elders too and thus all those bubbled up feelings came out in appreciation of V.

Devi's proud of you makes her happy.. getting that acceptance and especially from Devi who doesn't dole it out easily matters to her too... anybody would like that.

Mohit is surprisingly missing in all this.. I am assuming he went to decorate the bedroom 😉

I seriously would love to see Sai - Karishma bond hereon 👍🏼

V makes an important point here, that nobody minded when Sai was asked to do this so why only me? and he tells Sai that he feels happy that she thought of this..

Pakhi as usual craps 🤢

V says main baba ke saath nainsaafi nahi kar raha hun... main apne aur Sai ki barabari ki baat kar raha hun.. signaling that it is 'their' relationship and others should not interfere, drawing a line here.

Aur agar itni hi problem hai to naam hi nahi change karte...

This... this gives me a hunch that the name might not change at all.

The taunt about dhamki was so apt... Kudos to V... and then the sanskaar jibe.. 😆

And then at the thankyou from Sai, he mentions I am not doing it to impress you.. wah wah kya baat!! Bas ade raho is baat pe... palat mat jaana 😆

Sammy too supports the idea and in between praising V his hurt too comes out. Sammy says you need to have respect for your partner to do this... implying that Pakhi doesn't evoke that in him 😆

Sadly no one pays any attention except a token glance from Mansi.

V clarifies that he is changing it officially and not just saying it.

That surprises everyone.

And then the bouncer "Nagesh Bhavani Chavan"

Verdict:

I liked the episode better on second viewing.

It had lot of undercurrents. It is not just a tussle between career and love anymore.. it also includes identity.. as an individual with respect to their name, profession, and marital status but also a social identity in terms of bahu and ghar jamai. And I get it now, as why these two aspects were dealt in the same episode. Its another contradiction and conflict that they tried to address.

Kudos... very interesting take if it is pre planned.

V surprised me, not because he offered to change the name but because he spoke with conviction and a clear cut thought process, very different than his usual impulsive style when it comes to Sai.

He has definitely changed gears... probably learnt from Sai ... on how to deal with the CN mindset without getting aggressive and negating a jibe one at a time.

I guess that's what love does to you... V was always afraid of losing Sai and therefore would react in extremes. Now that he is assured of her and they are a team, the battles are to be fought together.

When he mentioned to BK, ki Sai Bahu banegi, it looked like an instantaneous reaction just to pacify BK and get the wedding done. And while he probably did not have a plan in place that time, the wheels in his brain worked and by the time of this ceremony, it was fully formulated.

V asked Sai to trust him, bharosa rakho mujhe pe... that was a very loaded statement.. Sai understood him. BK didn't in her ego trip.

V never committed BK ki Sai doctor nahi banegi... vo 'abhi' bahu banegi... (this dialogue is particularly from promo and not in episode).

BK didn't catch that.. that's why she was surprised and shocked today and felt played... while she was being played all along... Precap seems to hint at that too...

While I was also of the opinion that the SR should not happen immediately.. it gives me bad vibes thinking about what Didi may plan next when she comes to know of this 👎🏼

Loved the playful V back, when he says "jo tumne suna" something he is only with Sai. This playfulness is their USP... glad to see it back.

Overall, a milestone episode signifying the change in direction about how the issues will be handled from here on.👏

Prediction:

I don't think Sai ka name change hoga..

V hinted it twice, BK caught on that and asked him too.

BK although internally may be receptive to the idea of Nagesh Bhavani Chavan, she knows its not possible since Nagesh ji is dead. So it would be a lip service.

So she may not agree to V accepting Sai as his middle name and therefore as V said, there is no need for change either. quid pro quo.

I have hopes for V...

Yes, Karishma's praise was loaded. They briefly touched upon the humiliation Karishma goes through because Mohit does not earn - in one of the episodes long back - but like other things, kept it in cold storage after that. Mohit-Karishma-Chavans will be a good angle to explore.
