NOTE: It is sooo hard to write Crime and Suspense laced with comedy. Please dont search for too much logic here. I tried to make it flow but I am sure there are some logical holes. I envisioned a less severe one initially but Pakhi's recent antics made me tighten the noose around her.
Day 3
Sai and Virat's bedroom
Sai woke up in the morning to the increased buzzing of Virat's deep breaths in her ear. Their fastened naked bodies, with him spooning her from behind started to become uncomfortably warm with the morning sun. So she loosened herself from his grip, when yesterday's events dawned upon her. She frantically searched for her phone on the bedside and side table. No where to be found, she then remembered how her husband snatched it from her last night when she was trying to check her messages in the middle of their act. So she reached over to his side of the bed stretching over him, turning him on his back in the process, to find her phone under the discarded pile of their clothing. Virat shifted a bit, though without the slightest hint of waking up.
Sai sat upright and quickly opened her messages to see the expectant one sent very late in the night. She found another picture, which is clearly morphed that showed her husband too close to Pakhi didi, their faces almost touching but it looked kind of weird that his hand is disproportionately shorter for his height. And the place where the faces touched had his sharp nose abruptly flattened. Sai could not stop her laugh at Pakhi's silliness but was equally irritated that she could go to this extent to trouble her. If this picture had been sent to Sam Dada, he would have freaked out not knowing the previous details. This riled up Sai even more, so without thinking she dragged herselft back to lie down on her husband's chest face up, pulled up the blanket till their naked shoulders are only visible and clicked the picture. But debated to send it back or not, not knowing the full course of action later. So she kept the photo ready with her husband's face blurred again and decided to wait for the right moment to strike.
It is 6:30AM already and they have to start to Harini's school in an hour. Virat was in no condition to wake up even after she tried shaking him up multiple times. All he asked in his deep slumber was to wake him up once she had gotten ready. Sai got ready quickly and woke Virat up by shaking him so hard one last time that he almost fell out of the bed.
"Virat sir! wake up. We have to start soon. Kaku will be angry. I have put your clothes out on the chair. You have only 15 min before Kaku will send someone up.", she warned him and left. One thing she learnt to manage in this house is to stick to the schedule to avoid drama. She can sacrifice her sleep for few minutes but cant take those taunts and drama early in the morning.
CN Living room
Sai joined rest of the family members in the living room but noticed Pakhi was still missing. She must be busy doing all the photo shopping work wondered Sai, given that she was missing the whole day yesterday.
However to confirm the obvious truth, she asked her Sam dada, who is in perennially pensive mood these days "Dada, where is Pakhi didi. Is she fine?. By this time, she would have given us all her Amrit chai", she exclaimed.
"She was learning some course yesterday Sai. She slept very late in the night too. She is getting ready.", said Samrat trying to be cheerful for his wife.
"Course? what course?", prodded Sai.
"God only knows! I didnt bother to ask", he quipped. For him anything that her wife does for herself is a bonus.
Fully understanding what Pakhi might be doing whole day and night, Sai was about to go into the kitchen when Kaku started her tirade.
"Hey Jungli Mulgi, where is your husband? You have spoiled all the good traits in him. He used to be the first to turn up to the breakfast in the morning especially when there is something planned. Now it is quarter past 7 AM and he is still missing.", she rebuked Sai as a habit.
Sai started to explain when the honey dipped sly voice joined Kaku.
"What else would have happened Badi mami other than this madam throwing her tantrums early in the morning and troubling him.?" Pakhi spoke with so much confidence that everyone looked at Sai for more clarification."What Sai, looks like you had a bad start today?.", Pakhi stressed trying to gauge if her latest trick had played any role in Virat turning up late in the morning.
"Wah Pakhi didi! You are such an Antaryami! But sorry to disappoint you I had a wonderful start today and pleasant night too! These days you were not spending as much time near our room as before so you would not know our status!", Sai replied to which Kaku stopped her from going further with a big "Hmm". Nobody in CN wants to discuss Pakhi's antics openly especially in front of Samrat. Sai too didnt want, but she had to given the situation. She is losing her patience with Pakhi, especially around recent events.
Not caring to listen anymore filth from her, Sai said she will toast the bread and left to dining table when Virat came down wishing everyone and extending his help to Sai "Wait Sai, let me help you too. We can finish quickly and start.".
Sai wanted to show Pakhi that all is not well between her and her husband, so she will let her guard down and unleash her stupidity with confidence. So she faked irritation at her husband.
"Virat Sir, I dont need your help and invite more taunts from Kaku.", she said sharply which surprised Virat. Before he could utter a word, she gestured to him with butter knife to sit or else she would have to use it. Not understanding why she would suddenly behave like this, Virat went and sat next to Kaku bewildered.
"Virat!! Let me tell you a story of a camel which took the entire space of the tent and pushed the owner outside when he had let it take put its head inside.", started Kaku. "Same thing happened with you. You let her dance on your head, now bear her antics", she nodded her head sipping the freshly made Amrit chai by Pakhi.
Ignoring his Kaku totally, but with a hearty smile Virat asked Samrat "Jeeva, so you will take the Audi right? I will take my toyota. Mohit wants to drive. Kaku might object him driving the Audi.",
"I object because this Mohit will get lost in explaining his filmy stories while driving and hit is somewhere. Not that I am being unfair to your brother." Kaku clarified.
"Ofcourse Kaku, I was just planning ahead." , Virat tried to explain when Mohit interjected.
"Yes Dada, I will drive. Who else is coming with us. You, me, Karishma, Sai vahini and Ashwini mami", Mohit counted 5 in each car. "And my dad, mom, Ninad Kaka with Samrat dada and Patralekha bhabhi in another car?" he asked
Sai came running and said. "Mohit bhaiyya, I want to drive with Samrat dada today in Audi. Never been in one", she said obviously not spelling out her intentions to be with Pakhi.
Pakhi is delighted to hear that Sai and Virat will be driving separately. Her plan is working she thought. Little more instigation from her side, then her work is all done she mused.
Karishma wanted to join Sai too expecting there will be some drama when these two are together, and asked Sonali to join too which she rejected.
Inside Audi Q5 (Dont ask me why, but I thought BK will have one expensive car to just show off )
Samrat is driving the car while Pakhi sat next to him. Sai took the window seat at the back of Samrat contemplating her next move. She is not sure whether it will work, her only bets being on Pakhi's stupidity and arrogance. She has to use it both in appropriate amounts to carry out her mission.
She quietly opened her phone to send the picture taken in the morning to the secret 'messager', captioning it "from last night 😳"
She clicked send and waited with bated breath to see the stupidity unleash.
Pakhi's phone started buzzing interrupting Ninad from his 'about to get' nap, when she muted her phone and looked into her messages.
"Are you shameless?", screamed Pakhi looking at Sai which made Samrat skip his heartbeat.
"Patralekha!", he screamed back, "What happened to you? Why are you screaming at Sai."
Sai looked directly into her eyes, challenging her to answer. Not knowing what to do, Pakhi fumed in her seat, when Samrat took the car into parking .
"What is happening? Why are you screaming at sai suddenly.” Samrat questioned losing his cool.
“What did I do Pakhi didi?” Sai asked innocently.
karishma was shuttling her face from Sai to Pakhi not being able to imagine what Sai would have done in these few minutes to trigger Pakhi so much.
Pakhi’s phone did not stop ringing from then. Her best friend is now frantically calling her, obviously after seeing such picture. Pakhi switched off the phone and threw it away on the dashboard when Samrat asked her to answer the phone.
Samrat knows his wife could be very volatile but now her behavior started to embarrass him.
“Patralekha! Behave”, he murmured to which Pakhi returned with a glare.
Sai went ahead with trapping the friend now. She then texted the messager with warning
“Hello, whoever is helping Pakhi here has to know that you are sending morphed images to the wife of an IPS officer. Your phone can get tracked if I lodge a complaint so better stop doing this criminal bidding.”
She got the response immediately
“I am so sorry. I was just doing what my best friend asked me to. I didn’t know they were morphed images. Please don’t complain against me. I have a child.” She pleaded from the other end.
Sai asked her to do what she says if she wants to avoid any action on her. She asked her to call her phone immediately, multiple times even if she doesn’t answer.
Within seconds Sai’s phone started ringing incessantly, and she kept cutting it just to attract Samrat's attention. After 10 calls or so, Samrat had enough and asked Sai rather angrily.
“What is happening here?. Why are you both not lifting the calls”, he yelled stopping the car.
“I don’t know dada. But this number is unknown so I am avoiding it. May be the same person who is ‘troubling’ Pakhi didi with the calls called me too.”, she said coyly making Samrat more worried now.
He looked at Pakhi's shocked face and not moving his gaze from her, asked Sai to call back the number with the phone on speaker.
Pakhi started objecting why to waste time but Sai already joined the line with Pakhi's friend, who answered the call as soon as the ring went through.
“Sorry I don’t know anything. I was just helping ..Pak…”, came the frantic voice from the other end when Pakhi grabbed Sai's phone and disconnected the call.
“Patralekha!!!”, yelled Samrat
“Bhabhiii”, squealed karishma
Ninad jumped from his sleep complaining that he made a mistake joining the ladies!!!
“What happened why are you all screaming”, he said yawning
“Nothing baba, someone is troubling us on phone, and we were trying to find out who?”, Sai summarized but clearly escalating the issue...now looking intently at Pakhis confused face.
Samrat is livid now at Pakhi.
He parked the car aside and called Virat.
“Shiva! Where are you?. Come here to the location I shared. ”, he said hurriedly but not without adding the disclaimer “Nothing to worry just a small issue”.
“What are you doing Samrat?”, asked Pakhi disapprovingly “ Why are you making mountain out of a mole hill listening to you dear sister!”.
“Good idea Sam dada. This looks something shady. Virat sir should come.”, Sai tagged along with added urgency.
Before Pakhi had started objecting again, Mohit arrived at the spot and parked the car. Virat came out and inquired, not without visually making sure Sai is fine by reading her eyes.
“What’s the matter Jeeva! Is everything fine?” He asked. To which karishma started summarizing before Pakhi interrupted .
“Dadaaa! To start with… Patralekha bhabhi called Sai shameless out of nowhere”, Karishma spoke the words that will surely trigger Virat and as expected Virat fumed angrily at Pakhi.
“What is this nonsense Jeeva!”, he asked Samrat not willing to talk to Pakhi directly..
“Karishma! Why don’t you talk about the important stuff ”, Samrat rebuked her. “Shiva there was someone calling Patralekha repeatedly. She switched off the phone and immediately Sai received multiple calls. We got curious suspecting that it is the same person and called her back. The person started pleading not to punish her!! So I thought this is something you should know”, Samrat revealed to which Sai nodded animatedly.
Pakhi is now confused, cornered and frightened, still fuming at over reacting Sai. She got palpitations when the entire family got down from the cars and gathered around her. Few seconds later, Pulkit's car also stopped and BK came out shouting "Kay zaala? Did Mohit hit the car somewhere? Khandoba",
Karishma now got outraged that her husband was blamed unnecessarily. She learnt one thing from Sai these days, to defend your husband whenever BK berates them with taunts. So she started her story again.
"Kaku, this has to do with Patralekha Bhabhi", she loudly complained "and ofcourse Sai Bhabhi.",
"Who asked to put these two women in one car?!", BK rebuked. "There is no peace at home nor outside. What happened now. Jugli mulgi?", she asked Sai very well knowing Pakhi might have irked her first.
Samrat came into their defence and explained.
"Badi mami, it is not them but some unknown caller trying to trouble them repeatedly. We are trying to find out who?", he explained.
"Just before that Patralekha Bhabhi called Sai Bhabhi "Shameless"...just few seconds before these calls", Karishma clarified to which Samrat and Sai both said "Let it go Karishma!"
"Why let it go?", scorned Virat. "Pakhi, whats your problem with Sai?", he asked her directly.
"Shiva! Bhai lets focus on the call.", Samrat intervened to divert his attention from Pakhi. Sai was enjoying all this focussing on changing expressions on Pakhi's face, eagerly waiting for her husband's police brain to trigger.
"So the phones came to both Pakhi and Sai right?", Virat questioned rubbing his forehead. "Why did you switch off the phone Pakhi?", he asked her with inherent suspicion he carries around her.
"I switched it off because it was annoying.", Pakhi said indignantly. "I didnt know you all will make so much tamasha", she scoffed.
"Pakhi switch on your phone", Virat ordered, and turned to Sai and asked her to call the number again, with speaker on.
Karishma meanwhile filled Sonali, Ashwini and BK about how it all started when Pakhi called Sai Besharam. Samrat tried to ignore their talk but it started to bother him that Pakhi might be related to this mess.
Pakhi reluctantly opened her phone, thinking hard how to tackle this mess. She is definitely cornered as there is no easy escape even in distant sight. She opened her phone...and went to her missed calls.
"Ohh ohh", she started laughing surprising everyone "This is from my best friend Shilpa. See!", she showed her missed call list, half of which bore 'Shilpa' name in color red. "I did not want to talk to her while driving so I switched off.", she said expecting the danger would warded off. "Now lets all stop worrying unnecessarily and go back", she said walking hurriedly to the car.
"Wait Pakhi didi,", Sai called her "Let us check whether it is the same person who called me. Because when we called the number, a female answered and she was pleading to not punish her. May be your friend is in a danger.", she said acting with concern.
"Yeah that's right", said Virat and asked Pakhi to show the phone number. Samrat went forward and asked her for the phone when she did not follow Virat's orders immediately.
Pakhi glared at her husband who definitely is not helping her and opened her phone, nothing else to do.
Sai started reading the phone number aloud and when Virat found that the numbers are the same he freaked out.
"What is this nonsense?", He commanded Pakhi for an explanation. "Why is your friend troubling Sai?."
"Viraaaat, let me explain.", Pakhi begged clearly losing her marbles now.
"Lets call her Virat Sir! She is in some danger clearly." Sai suggested to which Virat agreed not heeding to Pakhi's pleas.
The phone was answered again by the lady and she is now crying "Sorry, please dont complain. I was doing this for my friend Pakhi.", she begged.
"Heyyy Shilpaaaa!", Pakhi laughed loudly. "I pranked you...silly", she said grabbing the phone from Sai's hand and laughing hysterically. "I am so sorry dear, it is just a prank...just a prank."
"You stupid girl!, Pakhi what prank are you talking? Sending those morphed pictures?", her friend yelled from the other end.
"Morphed pictures!", Virat shouted, now seriously concerned to which Samrat also shaked his head in disbelief.
"Yes morphed...", said Pakhi nervously..."No no modified pictures...", she stammered. "of our family....", she tried to form some coherent sentence. "visiting.. visiting... visiting....", she is stuck now.
"Visiting what?", everyone in the family questioned one by one causing Pakhi to profusely sweat on her forehead.
"Visiting....Nagpur Jail.", she said. "Jail... yes.", she murmured hoping she would not end up there soon. She then told her friend Shilpa not to fear, and that she will call back soon.
Sai was laughing uncontrollably while everyone was dumbfounded with their mouths open.
Virat is looking at Pakhi, still trying to read between her lines and questioned her more not willing to give up.
"Then why did she call Sai? How did she know her number?", he quizzed her intently.
"May be she tried to reach her when I did not answer her calls", Pakhi tried to show some logic.
"How did she get her number. Did you give Sai's number to her? Why?", Virat stressed more to which Sai added.
"I dont know that lady Virat sir, why would she need my number?", She asked planting more questions in Virat's mind.
Before Virat could ask more questions that would make her to blabber more nonsense, Pakhi said.
"Viraaaat, may be I shared her the number thinking it is yours.", she lied. "becauase... because..hmm. aaa. I saved Sai's number as Sai Virat Chavan and sent her this number instead of yours clearly confused with the names. I asked her to contact you if she is in any trouble", she said without taking a breath.."And.. and.. seeing the morphed ... sorry modified pictures of me in Jail, she must have freaked out and called you, Virat Chavan but went to Sai Virat Chavan.", she tried to connect the non existent dots. "Yess. that might be the reason.... sorry my prank caused so much trouble.", she said now panting praying with her life that Virat should not ask for any more proofs.
Everyone is shell shocked at this behavior but went mute not knowing what to say. Samrat is profusely embarrassed and went inside the car not wiling to stand the rain of taunts coming from everyone in the family. Karishma tried to bring out the "Shameless" topic agian but Sai gestured her to leave it. Virat is visually pissed off and returned to his car gesturing Sai to come with him instead of going into Samrat's car. After everyone left, Sai moved little closer to Pakhi and told her in a soft menacing voice.
"Pakhi didi! Dont ever mess with me again. I made you think about the jail this time, next time I will make sure you land up there.", she warned and when Virat called her to not waste time and join them soon.
"Pakhi didi, I am 100% sure you would never save my name as Sai Virat Chavan, instead please save it under the name Sai Joshi...Pakde Sache Doshi. Then you will not confuse me with any other person on this earth!", she smirked leaving Pakhi clearly trapped without any escape.
NOTE:
You can imagine the lone friend of Pakhi from initial episodes in this chapter😉. She looked liked a clever lady but must be having the brain capacity as much as Pakhi didi to be able to 'understand' her. 😆
PLEASE POINT ME TO THE PLACES where the plot could have been better. seriously I would like to know because I am sure this could have been written better.
I wanted Sai to not just corner pp but to corner her into revelation of what she did by maybe her friend doing her full on bhanda phod. This degree of toxicity and shamelesness needs to be exposed publicly so that Sam can be rid of her and Virat realizes what crap Sai has to tolerate on a daily basis. Sai may be adept at handling it but its still an unecessary nuisance. And bk and her gang who are blinded to pp's faults need to see her downright crassness. They need to feel embarrassed because their favorite bahu refiects their choice.

I agree but you see the point here, Vankar and me both want to keep her relevant.😆..atleast she will provide the comic relief.
We cant get rid of her somehow...for the story purpose :P But yeah after this, one can imagine she dreads Sai to the fullest.
