I am still a SaiRat shipper but I dont like Virat right now. And have already did a FF with SaiRat endgame so I want to do something different.

Confession ... for since long I have been thinking of redoing the original SaiRat.. as in they dont get married in GC, there is no vaada and such that.. an alternative story type.

So for this now, dear readers... need pointers..

Any specific episode from ghum, incident that you loved or hated ... need not be romantic one and need not be the popular ones...

Also songs that you love and remind of SaiRat or specifically Sai.

From the way I am envisaging this, I think maybe 2-3 chapters more.

I don't mind Sai with someone more sensible at all. But at the end of the day, you are the writer, so I guess whatever you decide but am no longer a sairat fan. not even a tad bit. 🥱

SaiRat FF - Part 4 "Tere Rang"

It is Harini’s birthday and Pulkit-Devyani have invited everyone from Chavan Niwas as well as some friends.

Virat too has joined in but is still being ignored by the family members. He is waiting on the sidelines when Harini comes and happily shares with her Mamu about her activities and fun in school.

The party is on and Virat is once again standing in the corner far away from everyone when Pakhi comes and brings some snacks and drink for him. He doesn't want to talk to her but being in a family gathering reluctantly takes the plate from her.

Just then, Virat hears Pulkit welcoming Sumit.

“Welcome Dr. Sumit… so good of you to come. Address mil gaya thik se?”

“Thank you Dr. Pulkit. Easily mil gaya..aapne local guide jo recommend kiya tha” and they let out a chuckle.

Virat who is standing away from the crowd, sees the scene in front of him and is visibly upset. Pakhi sees him clutching the glass so tightly that it might break. She gently touches his arm and he comes back to his senses.

Sai has come with Dr. Sumit. The idea that they came in together like a couple irritates Virat. He looks at her, desperate to catch her attention.

She scans the room, looks at Ashwini and Ninad standing there and a warm smile lights up her face. Bhavani Kaku and others too reciprocate her acknowledgement.

Then she turns and catches his eye.

He sees her looking at him, intently. He doesn't want to blink lest the contact may break. He tries to read her and sees a smirk on her face, as if she is laughing at him. This is not Sai … why is she looking at me like this, he wonders and then he notices her eyes moving to his side, at his companion. Pakhi has deliberately shifted slightly closer to him. He realises then and there why. How the picture is being presented to her. He tries to move but it's too late, and Sai has already turned her face away and has joined the conversation with Sumit and Pulkit.

The three of them are engrossed in a discussion, laughing and joking about their profession. Sai admiring Sumit and Pulkit, one a mentor and other a respected colleague. She feels Virat’s eyes trying to catch her attention and notices his irritation at her nonchalance.

Harini suddenly pops out of nowhere and grabs Sai’s hands and pulls her down.

“Sai Mami… aap kitttta late aaye… main kabse aapka wait kar rahi thi”

Sai, who had not anticipated a situation like this in front of Sumit, looks embarrassed and in a bid to stop Harini from blabbering more gives her the gifts she has brought. Harini takes all of them, thanks her and runs away as quickly as she came, leaving a surprised Sai without a chance to escape.

Sai straightens up, composes herself and turns to Sumit. He gives her a gentle smile and almost whispers, “It's okay. Don't feel bad. Virat ne bataya mujhe recently. You don't have to be embarrassed”

Virat can't hear the conversation but sees a huge relief wash over on Sai’s face. She looks visibly relaxed and he sees a smile pass between Sai and Sumit. One that means more than it looks. Virat feels defeated, someone else is now capable of bringing that smile back on her face. He tries to hide his tears and looks away only to see that Pakhi has been looking at him all this while, observing each and every aspect of his changing emotion. Resigned to his fate, Virat excuses himself and moves away.

The party is now in full swing and Sai seems to be fully enjoying herself, laughing and talking to Harini and her friends, a huge burden off her shoulders. Harini is sitting on her lap, eating the cake and the group engrossed in an animated conversation. Harini is asking Sai to do something and she is trying so hard to deny it.

Virat has picked a corner and Pakhi notices Virat looking at them, busily drinking in the beauty of the scene. His niece and his ex-wife, a beautiful friendship that has survived such a storm.

Eventually Sai relents and Harini drags her to the centre of the room. She announces to the audience that Sai would be doing a Kathak performance and changes the song on the music system. Sai takes up her position, slightly mortified to be doing this in front of everyone and especially with Virat and Sumit present. But she cannot deny Harini and gingerly starts dancing.

Her movements graceful as ever and her face emulating the mudras. Virat remembers the first time he saw her dancing with abandon in their room and how utterly besotted he was with her then.

Another set of eyes are also absorbing the beauty that is Sai Joshi and the ever perceptive Pakhi definitely notices this. Sumit is admiring Sai’s performance, his fingers drumming on each other, feet tapping and slight sway in his body.

Sai finishes dancing to a round of applause and her flushed cheeks and happiness are a sight to behold.

The party ends and Sai and Sumit are off together much to the chagrin of Virat. He would have liked to drop her home but seeing that she is completely unaffected by him and hasn't even spoken a word to him all through the evening, he silently moves on on his own.

As they reach her new home, Sai turns and proceeds to say thanks to Sumit. She wants to clarify with him the circumstances and Sumit notices her fidgeting with her dress.

“Sai… ek baat bolu?”

“Boliye na Sir”

“Virat ne jyada kuch nahi bataya… par itna bata diya that you two were married and are now divorced.”

He waits for her reaction, she tries to say something but then closes her mouth not sure what to say.

“Listen, it's okay. You don't have to feel odd around me because I am his friend.”

“Hum dono bhi to colleagues hai, we are supposed to be working together now that I have joined your college and to tell you the truth I don't care what your status is with him or anyone else. I believe in keeping my personal and professional life separate and I am sure you would like it too.”

“I would not want to get into the details of it but frankly, getting a divorce is no big deal. It's better to stay happy alone than in some relationship that hurts you just for society's sake.”

“You are young and you have a bright future ahead of you. Focus on that and let me know if you need any help. I will be happy to. As a colleague, as a mentor or as a friend, whichever way you like”

“And one more thing… you dance beautifully. I loved your performance.”

Sai looks at Sumit and appreciates the genuineness of his words.

“Thank you so much Sir. To be honest, main thoda worried thi aur soch rahi thi ki aapko batau ya nahi. Lekin acchha hua aapko khud hi pata chal gaya. Thank you for understanding. Bahot dino baad kisi ne meri situation ko samajh ke mere baare main socha hai. I am glad you decided to join my college. I would love to learn from you. Thank you again and Good night”

They both wave each other goodbye and Sai walks out with a sense of reassurance that the tide has changed.
